TroubledSue,
I am the same way . That's one of the reasons that I'm going to compile a list of realistic statements (self-talk statemtents) to put on a tape that I will listen to in the car/at home/etc. Perhaps you might try this. I refer to the "Self-Talk Solutions" book by Shad Helmstetter for ideas and suggestions.
I hope this suggestion helps you. I also hopes it might help me and others .
Taking your own advice

thanks for all the advice and shared stories. sorry i didn't get back soon, was out all day for christmas.
as i was reading the replies, i kinda thought about pregnancy. lets say a woman is alone and giving birth in her house. obviously, freaking out. so she calls 911 and the operator has to give her instructions. she prolly sound soooo calm and collected. "ok, just relax, lift your legs and rest your head." all slow and calm, but the woman giving birth is a wreck! however.... if that operator ended up in that same situation, i KNOW she wouldn't be all calm and collected. she would be a wreck because its alot easier to stay calm when its someone else, lol.
maybe i should write myself emails or something. i dunno. i haven't been through the program yet. its, kinda sitting next to my TV i think its time to crack it opened. i know so much, and i know what i should do, but for some reason, i occasionally have trouble applying that to myself, so maybe the program will help me trust my own advice. i trust it when giving it to other people, so hopefully i can learn to trust myself when i say i'm not going to die.
