I take xanax on an as needed basis and I only use it for really hard times. I agree with the post that says that if you need something then you should take it.

If you have this program start implementing the skills your learning and see if that can help you also. The vitamins are wonderfull and really seem to give me a good disposition and stamina through the day which in turn makes me tired at night.

there are also lots of homeopathic remedy things on the market to aid with sleep and anxiety. I like the chamomile tea its very effective at calming one down as well as the Bach Rescue Remedy or Sleep Remedy.
Check some of it out. and as always check with your pharmacist if you have any questions what so ever
Good luck

Hi there. I am on Xanax .50 a day. I take half in the a.m. and half at night. I needto take this as part of my heart problem. I have MR of the heart and SVT so the Xanax actually slows my heart down. I feel like myself on it too and can say great things about it =) Best of luck to you!

I've just recently been prescribed Xanax but only when I need it immediately for panic attacks. I was also prescribed Paxil (antideppresant), as a maintenance drug but takes a couple of weeks to kick in. Although I'm not depressed, I was told this would help aliviate stress (if that's what this is) but really believe I have some sort of chemical imbalance that's suddenly taken over.

I was on Xanax 0.5 mg for about 6 months. It really helped me get through sleeping for a period of time and definitely through panic attacks. I feared addiction, but I feared not being able to sleep or recovering from anxiety attacks even more. It is important to note this reason for taking medication to help.

I was able to get off of Xanax without any noticeable side effects. I only use it if I have panic attacks and I have not had any for several months.

I did switch to 10 mg of Ambien instead. I find it to be more addictive than Xanax. I am working on reducing my dependancy on Ambien because I am feeling that the reason for my sleeplessness has subsided.

My psychiatrist and general practioner differ on which one is more addictive.

Talk to your doctor about what you should do.

If you can get exercise in and eating right, I find that this helps in sleeping as well. I believe sleeping better is discussed in Lesson 5.

I never liked Xanax, always made me feel "hang overish" the next morning. I take .50 of Ativan when my anxiety/panic causes my heart to race (like 1-2 days every couple months)

I don't think xanax will not hurt you much at night I take them most of my nights, because I'm steady racing most of the day till it's hard to sit down and my back hurt something awful, but what I wanted to know was what kind of reaction did you have on celexa? I took it and it seemed liked it helped and then it didn't sometime I felt sedated then I just stopped and I was the same way I started, I just don't think theres no fixing for me, I don't even have time to think.

On the third day of Celexa I become ill and my anxiety increased along with my insomnia. When I saw my physciatrist she told me that if I can't handle Celexa I wouldn't be able to handle any of the anti-depressants because they're all pretty much the same, and I would react like that to all of them.

I have been on Xanax for a while now. My doctor had tried several different things and nothing seem to work. I was always sick at my stomach when I woke up and would have diarrhea really bad. One morning while getting ready for work I was a little nausea at my stomach. I continued to get ready once I was done I decided I would fix me some toast. While on my way to the kitchen, the next thing I knew my son was picking me up off the floor. Think god he is a firemna/EMT. That day I went to the doctor and he winged me off the those meds. Later he put me on Xanax. At first I started feeling the same way again. He told me to half the pill. Then maybe 1 hour or later taken the rest if I need it. Now they work great. When I feel an attack coming on within 30 minutes I've fine. So Try halving it. Hope this works.

I took Xanax for a brief time to control anxiety. The only side effect I had was some short term memory loss. No other side effects otherwise and going off it was not a problem for me.
