Ashlynn,
I also feel dizzy ALOT and I constantly think something is wrong with me also. However, recently, just last week I went to my Dr. and he said I had an inner ear infection. The dizziness still hasn't went away even though I'm taking the med he gave me, it has lessened though. At night sometimes when I feel the anxiousness & dizziness coming on I put a lukewarm or cool cloth on my face and it seems to help.

Hi Ashlynn-

I had an MRI done back in October of last year due to dizziness and some visual changes. The MRI came back normal and still when I get dizzy it really scares me and I think that something is wrong. This is mainly why I am scared of driving, I think I'm going to crash the car. Sometimes I also feel off-balanced and lightheaded. What, I'm trying to do now is not over-react when I feel these things. I've had so many tests, I try to tell myself if it really was something the doctors would have found it by now. Keep in touch.

Hi all,

I woke up yesterday morning very dizzy. I had a dental apointment for a six month cleaning and checkup and I did go there, but the dizziness persisted so I didn't stay, even the dental staff (who are wonderful) said not to bother and to go home and relax. They even offered to drive me home but I made it on way own.

It persisted all day and it was like everything was spinning. Especially if I lied down on my back and got up. So, I decided I would see a doctor and got to see one last night.

She said that dizziness can be of two types - lightheadedness or vertigo. She said when you feel you may "pass out" without the room spinning around then you have lightheadedness. If you just have that feeling of "motion" and "spinning" you have vertigo. She did an exam and some balance tests and determined that I have vertigo for sure. She was a very understanding and knowledgeable doctor and assured me that it would go away by itself and not to worry about it. She said I could drive my car but if I had the spinning symptons, just to pull over and let them pass.

By very late last night and this morning it is pretty much all gone away, just like she mentioned. She said that vertigo is caused by a disconnect between the ears, eyes and brain and is normally caused by little flakes floating around in the ear canal.

In any event, it is important to determine what kind of dizziness one has, whether it is the "lightheaded" feeling or whether it is the "room spinning" type.

I did a search on WebMD (she recommended that site) and it says that anxiety is one of the causes of the "lightheaded" variety while "vertigo" is a disconnect between various parts of the body and ear disorders are a major cause.

She said also that (for me) I should be googling "vertigo" and not "dizziness" as that was what I had.

Here is the link to the WebMD article, if you would like a better expanation of the types of dizziness (again, don't go there if you don't like to read about symptoms and things like that):

Gee, I even tried to do the relaxation tape yesterday and I couldn't as I couldn't close my eyes without becoming dizzy, but I am sure going back to using it today!

I hope this helps just a little bit and good luck to all who have these terrible dizzy feelings from time to time (or even all the time). And, if it is often, perhaps check with your doctor. It was well worth it for me yesterday just for peace of mind as I really worry about symptoms and health.

Take care all and have a great first day of Spring!
