LESSON 1-- THOUGHTS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- BOUGHT AN OLDER VERSION OF THE PROGRAM FROM EBAY BECAUSE THE NEW VERSION FEATURES PRINT THAT IS TOO SMALL FOR ME TO READ. THE OLD PROGRAM HAS A WONDERFULLY BIG WORKBOOK AND BLUE FLASHCARDS WITH LARGE, BOLD PRINT. I FOUND QUITE A NICE DEAL ON EBAY--A NEVER USED PROGRAM, STILL IN THE ORGINAL MAILING BOX FOR A VERY REASONABLE PRICE!
- BEGAN AN ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION PROGRESS JOURNAL.
- EXERCISED (11 DAYS OUT OF 14). I HAVE BOTH NEUROLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL ISSUES THAT PRODUCE SEVERE CHRONIC PAIN AND FATIGUE. MY EXERCISE PROGRAM COMBINES PHYSICAL THERAPY EXERCISES AND YOGA. IT HELPS KEEP ME MOBILE AND ACTUALLY REDUCES THE PAIN.
- PRACTICING MINDFUL DEEP, SLOW BELLY BREATHS.
- REGULARLY LISTENING TO THE RELAXATION CD. SINCE I HAVE FIBROMYALGIA, TENSING MY MUSCLES MAKES THE PAIN WORSE. INSTEAD OF TENSING, I STRETCH MY DIFFERENT BODY AREAS WHILE DOING THE SLOW, DEEP BELLY BREATHS. IT WORKS FOR ME.
- LISTENING TO POSITIVE CDS AND DVDS. FOR EXAMPLE, I DUG OUT MY OLD LOUISE HAY "YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE" DVD, CDS AND BOOKS. I DON'T AGREE WITH EVERYTHING LOUISE HAY SAYS, BUT I TAKE WHAT I CAN USE AND LEAVE THE REST. EVEN MS. HAY SUGGESTS WE DO THIS. I'VE ALSO BEEN WATCHING MY DVDS ABOUT MIRACLES AND ANGELS ("TWICE IN A LIFETIME," "TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL,"IT'S A MIRACLE WITH RICHARD THOMAS,"HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN... "
- GETTING BACK TO MY DAILY SPIRITUAL PRACTICE. I'M CATHOLIC, SO I BEGAN SAYING MY ROSARY AGAIN, WATCHING INTERNET MASS AND DIVINE OFFICE AND I'M PRACTICING LIVING IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD. I'M A HOMEBOUND, DISABLED SENIOR WHO LIVES ALONE. ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY ARE NO LONGER HERE. HAVING A SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION IS IMPERATIVE FOR ME TO MANAGE DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY.
- RECOGNIZING ANXIOUS AND NEGATIVE THOUGHTS AND REPLACING THEM WITH THE REALITY AND MIND-STRENGTHENING POSITIVE THOUGHTS.
- REDUCING CAFFEINE INTAKE, WHICH IS GREEN TEA. I'M NOW HAVING ONE CUP REGULAR AND ONE CUP DECAFFEINATED INSTEAD OF 2 CUPS OF CAFFEINATED GREEN TEA.
- MY GETTING ANXIOUS AND UPSET IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE THIS SITUATION.
- I CAN'T CHANGE THIS SITUATION OR THE BEHAVIOR OF OTHERS, BUT I CAN CHANGE HOW I REACT BY FIRST CHANGING MY THOUGHTS.
- I AM OPEN TO CHANGE.
