Does lexapro make you a bit "more" anxious in the beginning? On my second week, first week was on 5mg, went up to 10 for 4th day now and I just feel edgy and anxious ( a little nauseas too). Anyone else? I take it in the am, did fine with the 5mg, but also am finding that the 10 mg is making me more sleepy mid day too. Thanks for any help.
One day at a time is the fastest we can go......

I am also on Lexapro. I was started out on 10mg a day and am now on 20mg. I felt really edgy after I was on 10mg for about 4 or 5 months, but now that I am now on 20mg I don't feel the edgy or anxiousness anymore. I have been on it for almost a year, well next month will be a year. Yes, I get real tired mid-day too. Hope this helps.

It does help, but makes me wonder if I can feel like this for 4 or 5 months. My stomach has always been my issue. If anxiety hits, my stomach takes the hardest hit, wt loss, no appetite, it gets awful...acid build up, ulcers etc. Im on Klonopin 2mg day (spread out) to help because he said sometimes SSRI's raise your anxiety level at first, so I guess time will tell.

I started back on Lexapro last Friday.....5mgs....felt VERY anxious and and bad tummy for a few days. Now my tummy is better (day 6 now) and my anxiety has subsided about 50%..I still have my moments but it's not as bad as it was 2 days ago when I could NOT relax or pull my shoulders down from my ears.

It's a normal side affect. I am sure as your body gets used to the med, one day soon you won't even realize it, but you won't have those weird, creepy, crappy feelings anymore and you can start to focus and how to stay that way:)

Good luck!

I take 10mg of Lexapro per day. When I started, I had trouble getting used to the side effects (mainly being tired) that I ask the doctor if I had to take it in the am or would it be ok to take it at night. He said we could try that, and it worked great for me. I still am more tired in the midday, than I was before Lexapro, but it is much better. Good Luck.

Thanks all, its just sort of a weird uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. Like nerves before a big "thing" coming up, nothing like where I was a month ago when I hit bottom. Anyway, I will press on and give the 10 mgs a chance to work. Thanks for the kind advice.

Yes, increased anxiety is normal when you start up or change your dose, it should pass withing a few weeks if not sooner. If you are noticing you are better than before than the meds are working, you may have some bad days still which is normal when you start up, but the good days will start to outway the bad soon enough, stick with it.

I am on 10mg and just hit the 3 month mark today. I overall feel much better on them, I still have some anxious days, but they are not like before, and I have heard that it can take up to a year on meds to straighten things out if you have a chemical imbalance, but during that year you should feel better and better.

I take my meds at night and have no problems with them at that time. I too am tired in the late afternoon, but I have always been tired during that time of the day, and I attribute it mostly to my 2 year old son who doesnt nap or sleep well.

Go out and go for a walk during this start up phase, I found that walking helped the anxiety and cleared my head when I started the meds.

I just started taking Lexapro about two weeks ago. I am taking 10 mg dose and it's making me really sick to my stomach. Is this something that gets better as time goes on? I do feel alot calmer just sick to my stomach.

I have to reply to you because I started this post. I started at 5 mgs for about 4 days or so, then went up to 10mgs. MADE myself do it for 5 days. My anxiety level went soooooo high, the nausea was awful which is how my anxiety rears its ugly head, and I felt like I was spiralling back down to where I was. Talked to my psych doc, and am going back down to 5mgs to see if it subsides. I can NOT take more nausea than I get already, so going down to 5 tomorrow am dose, and hoping that seems my magic dose. Hope it helps.
