Hey guys, I have recently been having some anxiety issues and would like to avoid going on medication.
My question for you all is: Do you take any supplements or natural products to help with your anxiety? If so, what do you use?
How effective is it?
What exactly do you suffer from mostly (anxiety, ocd, gad, phobias)?
And, is there anything you do not like about it?
If you guys could answer those few questions for me that would really help me out, thanks!
Alternatives to medications? Supplements?
Hi Joe,
Let's see if I can be of some help to you.
Yes, there are supplements and your best bet is to locate a good homeopathic doctor in your area who can recommend some. I've personally tried many. Some work, some don't but keep in mind that everyone is different so while one may not work for some it certainly does for others. Keep trying until you find the one(s) that work for you.
5-HTP
L-tryptophan (which is in 5-HTP but it is a larger dose when you take it by itself and it is a derivative of turkey.)
Phenibut (an amino acid)
Calm Powder - Magnesium (we are all shy of this mineral - even if you take it with calcium. You need more because the calcium uses it in order to help the calcium get absorbed in the body. So more mag is important. Good stuff.
Cod Liver Fish Oil - this is the oil recommend for people with anxiety. You can purchase it on line from Netrition for half the cost in the health food store. It has lemon so you do not taste the fish. It's wonderful. You can put it in a smoothie or take it by itself.
That's just to name a few. Goodness knows there are more things out there and I suspect a lot of them have magnesium in them. Do your research. It's worth it.
If you go to a health food store and the people there know their stuff they can refer you to other things but I highly recommend a good homeopath who carries his own products in his office. He'll know what to try on you. And, if one thing doesn't work, try another. There is something out there that will work for you.
I suffered from everything you described, Joe, but I didn't know about all the herbal products out there until only recently.
Good questions and my best to you.
