CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN PANIC AND ANXIETY TO ME

Post by KAMO » Tue Sep 20, 2011 8:09 am

I just finished listening to Session 2 again and Lucinda intertwines anxiety and panic attacks as if they are one and the same, but never actually says what the difference in them is. My doctor told me once that they were the same, but I don't see how that can be. According to Lucinda and others, a panic attack only lasts for about 10 minutes, but when I have an anxiety attack, it can last all day and I've never felt like I was going to die. It just makes me feel miserable. So, can anyone tell me the difference because I really need to understand this.

To me, panic attacks are episodes of uncontrollable feelings of fear and body symptoms. I felt like I had to run to my safe place and safe person. But when I had anxiety episodes that lasted all day, like yours, I did not experience the panic symptoms like I described above. I just felt this feeling of uneasiness that lasted all day. I hope this helps. Congratulations on having the courage to start the program! :)

Thanks for explaining that to me. That is exactly how I feel with an anxiety attack.
