I don't know about the dormant mental disorder thing, but I used a nose spray years ago and all of a sudden within days I was having panic attacks and I was a nervous wreck. I stopped sleeping which lead to no eating, etc. etc. I finally had one doctor say, yes, even small amounts of steroids (like in allergy nose sprays) can make some sensitive people anxious. Needless to say, I never used another spray again. (except a homeopathic one which I love).
I have had sinus problems since I broke my nose when I was 6. I have had two septum surgeries. They have me on a steroid nasal spray to make sure it heals correctly, but trust me I get VERY anxious and I have noticed it a lot more since using it. I'm glad you brought up this discussion because I was wondering if that could cause anxiety. I heard that Vitamin Cottage (If anyone else has those where they live) has an all natural spray. I will try to find out for you guys
newrunner,
sorry, I don't get on this site as much anymore (in a good way!)...I use and love sooooo much Sinufix nasal mist by Naturalcare. You can usually get it at any health food store and even vitamin shoppe. The cheapest I found it was online where I sometimes order certain vitamins (www.swansonvitamins.com). Of course you have to pay shipping so it turns out to be only a couple of dollars cheaper. Look it up online-I am not sure what the website is though. I have been using this continuously for a few years now (I use it more in the winter) but I always have it on hand and I have not had a major sinus issue in all that time. Good Luck and I hope you try it.
