Hello, I have been struggling with anxiety for quite some time now but not until last fall did I really feel any of the major symptoms. Here lately I have been what seems to me like trouble breathing and getting deep breaths. I know that most of the time I dont need the deep breath but I still try to get it. And other times it seems like my throat is closing in. I do have asthma also but have not had any problems with it for many years. Alot of the time it feels like I ate too much. I also have GERD problems and am on meds for them. If anyone can relate to me it would be appreciated.

0124,
I'm not sure about your breathing problem but it sounds like it’s anxiety related. You might want to try taking a nice long relaxing walk during those times to help relieve stress and relax your body and mind.
I also had GERDs for over a year. I was also taking all kinds of meds for it but nothing seemed to help. Then I found an old fashioned solution that actually worked!
Here it is:
Combine two Table-spoons of Apple Cider Vinegar (use the raw unfiltered type that you find at health food stores)
1/4 tee-spoon of baking soda
8oz of water
it will fizz when you mix the ACV with the soda, don't worry about that.
Drink it down twice a day on an empty stomach.
Your GERDs will stop almost immediately. YES, it actually works!
Also, the reason you have GERDs is due to too much stress, worry and anxiety in your life. You need to take action right away to help relieve this.
1. Exercise vigorously every day
2. Stop all caffeine consumption and drastically reduce sugar intake
3. Follow this program to calm yourself down
4. Let go of your worries, practice CPR “I am CALM, I am PEACEFUL, I am RELAXED”

Let us know how you are doing. God bless and peace be with you.

Also, by all means, do not over eat. Thats very bad for GERDs.
Get some relaxation CDs and start listening to them. That will also help calm you down.

thanks 0124, for posting its like u were reading my thoughts, and my posteds i left yesterday. i too have the same thing, i couldnt keep anything, down, it felt like i was always full, and my throat with tighten/swell up. and constantly gassy, thinking i always had heart burn, with tight chest pains right dead center of my chest. gosh i hate that, i just found out, i too am dealing with GERD, i didnt know stress and worrying can cause it. i too need to start exercising, i noticed when i do feel like that, i walk around, i only feel good when im up and moving, if i stop, my stomach turns, i burp constantly, i get discomfort in my chest, and my throat tightens/swells. dont feel alone, please dont, cause i dont anymore thanks to u and many others that had responded. just keep in mind, as cliche as it sounds, but exercise, and diet does make a healthy lifestyle.
and DON 56, im gonna keep that remedy in mind, never heard of it, i been taking pepcid ac..it works for me, but hey, home remedies are always cheaper. thanks to you both, and keep me updated with u...take care

I have heard this very concern many times on here. I have also, personally, dealt with the tightness in the throat...and it is anxiety related. Essentially you are tightening all of your muscles even if you don't think you are, and your throat is included in that. My rule of thumb on most symptoms...is if I occupy my mind on something else, and it goes away...then it is probably anxiety. When you feel this way, take a few minutes out and do your 2-4 breathing or just pop in the relaxation cd if you can. If you can't do that, the walking idea is a great one...or anything else you can do to take your mind off of it for a while.

Best of luck!
