My new therapist uses ACT-Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Just wondered if anyone had any experience or thoughts about it. I think it's a little different than what this program teaches. I'm a little nervous about a different approach.

I am not familiar with ACT, however, I would guess that it would be in accordance with this plan.

That is to say that we should accept our past as past and no matter what we do or say, etc. we cannot change our past. What is important is our future and present.

In the present moment we should become committed to our recovery. Accept bygones as bygones and think of positive ways to change the way we think.

I personally am having a lot of success with this strategy. I have been catching myself when I start to feel negative...putting up a stop sign and replacing these negative thoughts with postive, action thoughts. This has really been working for me.

Hope this helps....good luck.
