Has anyone ever had this problem. I believe it's called adhesive capsulitis. I've just read online that it can happen (several causes, but this one in particular caught my attention) after breast surgery. I had a surgical biopsy less than two weeks ago and my opposite shoulder has been hurting ever since. It got so bad to the point this weekend that when it "catches" my whole body spasms and my breath catches too. I can rotate it all around, but something like turning a key or putting my car in gear...or simetimes just turning around can almost bring me to my knees.
I know that this isn't really anxiety/depression related, but I was hoping someone on here had heard of it before and might have some advice. OTC meds are not even lightening the pain at all...and I have a pretty good pain tolerance!
Anything you can offer would be appreciated.

Frozen Shoulder?
Dawn,
Did you have a breast biopsy? Last summer I actually had two stereotactic breast biopsies. The first one was rough recovering from-I actually felt pain during the procedure. But you said your biopsy was surgical right? I know my cousin had a surgical biopsy and when I spoke to her, she had less problems after then I did. Everyone's experience is different. The pain and soreness lasted pretty long and at times in the beginning, it radiated down my arm a little. Did you speak with your doctor or surgeon who performed the biopsy? Sorry I don't have more info, but I wanted to let you know I know how 'different' it feels for awhile. It will get better-good luck.

Hi Karla -
Thanks for your post. Yes, it was a surgical breast biopsy - my first. The left breast has been swollen and bruised, but the surgeon told me to expect that. But it is the right shoulder that is absolutely killing me! I have a call in to the surgeon now to see if he has had this happen before and if he has any suggestions. From what I read online (aren't medical google searches both wonderful and dangerous for us anxiety-types?!?!?
) the symptoms sounds most like this "frozen shoulder" thing and it said that it can happen after breast surgery (among other things). All I know is that when it catches I look like a total spaz - it makes me jerk all over and I stop talking mid word from the pain. Ugh.
Plus the biopsy was inevitable, but not scheduled. When the surgeon said he could do it right then at my check up and it would only take 15 minutes - I thought "Why not?" because his office is an hour from home and I had to take half a day off work to see him. My husband is upset wiht me because he says I should have scheduled it for another time and he would have gone with me. Truthfully - I think he might have been mentally prepared for it, but for a 15 minute procedure? I don't think he would have gone with me. I think he;s just upset because I'm hurting, but his disappointment or whatever doesn't make me feel any better right now.
Sorry - rambling and venting...pain makes me stupid. :p
