Anyone else have this issue? I never appreciate the here and now, I am always stuck in the future or past and before I know it time has flown past and I've missed the present moment.
Some example, Start of December, I couldn't wait for Christmas to come, to get of work etc, I was stuck in the future, so much so I missed the entire build up and now its over and i'm back to work on Monday.
Now on New Years eve, I am having a few drinks, but rather than enjoying the moment I am sitting worrying about, "Will I be anxious tomorrow with a hang over"
You get the idea, anyone else the same
Real problems with staying in the presious present moment?
ppp I don't think there is anything wrong with thinking about the past and future, but sure, you cannot obsess over it.
But, it is quite healthy to reminisce and appreciate the great things about the past, or maybe to mourn the death of someone, or to look forward to a future event or work toward a future goal. Or to even "look forward to Christmas" or get excited about something that is about to come.
The trick, or challenge is not to let it consume your thoughts in an unhealthy way. Not to be anxious or nervous or obsessive over it.
To that we need to find a balance.
