Last night our Pastor spoke a little about this man. I am very interested in his biography, I will see if my library has it.

Basically he was a missionary, ran an orphanage and a Bible college. He never asked for a cent, yet God blessed him with millions which he passed on to the school and orphanage.

Our pastor talked about how George would always start the day with joy in his heart. First thing every morning, he would read the Bible and pray until he was joyful, whether it took 5 minutes or several hours.

That statement really effected me - as I am in a hurry to start my day and get things done on schedule. Not always with a joyful heart, but with a 'rushed' mind. I do always read scripture and pray, but sometimes it is done with joy, other times obligation.

I am definitely going to be taking this to heart, and also look for some books on this blessed man.

Oh, and he had a heart for Jews, which is always all right in my book. ;)

Wow...Shifrah, I loved this reading, since, this is how I have been praying!!!

I will kneel on my knees, then, end up with my face to the floor!!!

This is amazing, since, I thought that I was the only one who prayed this way!!!

Thanks for sharing these things!!! God Richly Bless You Is My Prayer!!! Love Ya Bunches!!!

That is great Ms. T.

I was disappointed to find that my library didn't have anything on George Mueller, but I googled this:

http://www.desiringgod.org/Res...egy_for_Showing_God/

Very interestingly and sadly, he lost his mother at an early age, had 4 children, but 2 were stillborn, one died at age 1 while the other died at 57. He married again after the first wife died and outlived her as well. He lost his only brother and father early on.

So he had a lot of grief in his life, for sure.

This is a very inspirational and uplifting reading for anyone.

Dear Ms T:
You have amazed me again!

Did you REALLY think that you were the only one who prayed with such devotion?

It is very commendable that you pray fervently.

However, I venture to say that thousands of christians pray with passion and intensity, as well as with utmost humility.

I think that it is the humility that is beautiful.

I don't know many humble christians who brag about how they pray.

My regards to you.

I wonder if there is any of his books on Amazon or thru Christian book Distributor's website?
I know that Amazon has so many used books? Also many large churches have libraries and they may have some of his books that you can check out. Just a thought. I am an old 411 telephone operator and I am always thinking...can't shut that off haha. I hope that helps finding some of his works.

take care

Jill, it came to mind that we actually had a book by him, and I'm pretty sure it was his autobiography, but my husband gave it to my BIL, and I don't expect to see it anytime soon. Maybe the next time I'm in Mardel or Family Christian bookstore I'll look around for it.

Hey Shifrah....thanks for sharing this...

its always such a beautiful thing when we learn about these types of human beings who gave so freely and humbly of themselves to anyone who needed help...

thanks again for sharing....i also think if you enjoy reading about these selfless individuals as much as i do you might also enjoy reading up about "Father Damien"......He was another selfless man who gave so much of himself to the lepers in the hawaiian islands that he also became a leper and died from it...i loved his story as well....

Best wishes to you all!!

I have read the bio on George Muller , its more of a day by day diary , it is fantastic. Amazon does have several copies of it . There is also a really good video if you can find it called " Obstical to Comfort" it is the story of his life . highly recommend it.

Dear Ms T:
It was brought to my attention that I overstepped myself in the message (posted above on the 24th August).
I, myself, see that it was rude and insenstitive.
I am contrite over posting this and I beg your pardon.
I ask your forgiveness.
