the more and more i read or hear about anxiety from an audiobook it becomes more and more clear how acceptance is so important. It is the hardest thing to do when it comes to the anxiety but the most beneficial. Without acceptance we cannot calm ourselves down when in the heat of the moment and then anxiety gets even stronger.

You cannot possibly overcome this problem without getting to a point where you stop fighting and accept and float with the symptoms. This is the same information put forth in the 60/70s up until now. The more you fight, the more you activate the fight or flight aka adrenaline and anxiety.

Like i said this before, It is one of the hardest things you can do and keep up. I dunno about you but when i was doing the program in the beginning i was really hopeful and more motivated maybe you'll benefit the way I do as well. Try keeping yourself occupied with Self-help books in order to keep motivated. Most books differ alot when it comes to anxiety and depression but one thing they have in common is calming ourselves down and acceptance and the more we can read it (not rereading the same wording and books over and over and over again), the more ingrained it can become and the more we can accept the concept of accepting to work.

If your intrested why not try going along with the new years resolution i'm planning. at least 1-2 self-help books in a month for the year.

Hope this helps,

Mike

Thanks, Mike.

I wanted to tell you that I like your description of a 'wise' person in your signature.

Hi Mike, I totally agree with you in floating with it when you have an anxiety attack. I have found that when I float with it & except it & just let it do it's thing, the symptoms are not as bad as they would have been & I'm not getting anxiety as often as I used to. It is so nice for a change!!! Thank you for your post, I really appreciate it & I hope you have a great day!!

What do you do when you feel so spacey for a long period of time? Does this go away by accepting the way I feel...it is so hard. I really need reasurance. Thanks

It is all about acceptance. I totally agree. Accepting the anxiety is the key to it not coming back, or at least when it does, it not lasting so long.

Ninja, you are a wise person. You always have great advise and you share it with others.

Valeria83--yes, the way to get the spacy feeling is to accept and to do the breathing. When you feel spacy its because you aren't breathing right. Find a way to close your eyes, talk to yourself and reassure youself, do the breathing and then just float with it and it will go away. Keep practicing. It took me months to master it and now I've not had it for years.

You guys all make such good, positive sense! I just, today, joined this website and wanted to know if you feel the program is a good tool to use to help me with my bouts of anxiety. It really seems we all have "triggers" which set off latent emotions we haven't dealt with. Do you tend to agree? Does your anxiety usually come after some event or something unsettling? If that is the case, it would be safe to assume if we eliminate the trigger, we eliminate the anxiety for good! Your thoughts? Thanks :)

Thank you for the posts, I hadn't realized people responded to this.

I feel spacy from the time i wake up to the time i fall asleep. I have had this feeling start to lift but it took alot of time with relaxation and acceptance. It can lift if you accept and float.

Thank you rose_thorn98 I glad that you think I give great advice.

Yes there are definately triggers when it comes to anxiety but that isn't always the case. With generalized anxiety it is just always there which is the main type that i'm dealing with right now. But you're right if we can eliminate a trigger (like talking to someone) then we can elminate the anxiety that goes with it. I had alot of anxiety when it came to doing Kareoke and it's mostly gone now and Kareoke is one of my favorate things to do now.
