So I have been in a relationship with my boyfriend for about 4 years. The same amount of time that I have had anxiety. He has been with me through the ups and downs and has been great. He is everything that I have ever wanted and more, but there is one thing..our sex life is well kind of non existent. I take zoloft for my anxiety and depression which for those who are on it has major sexual side effects. I have switched medications in the past for other reasons, and for me I feel like zoloft works the best.

I have talked to my psychiatrist many times about this and she suggested changing birth control pills..tried it..didnt work. She also suggested making it romantic or things of that nature..tried that too.. I starting to feel really emotionally disconnected from him and I DREAD having sex with him!! we really only do it like maybe once a month. I am attracted to him and love him very much but this is really hurting..and I think me more than him. I have questioned our relationship many times and even moved out and we were on a break..but I was empty without him...Im starting to think I might have to take viagra or something!! Someone please help if you have any suggestions!! Im sorry this is so long but I am at the end of my rope here. Thanks guys!

Hi Anna,

After trying the suggestions of your therapist without success, maybe you could call your OB/GYN. This could be a hormonal issue that your doctor could help balance out. That would be my first stop. Good Luck.

Are you saying you don't have the erge to have sex with him or nothing is happening the way you want it. My husband and I don't do it alot and I never O. It's so frustrating. it might be the medicine if that is what your talking about. I know the meds and cause you not to have a high sex drive. I could really cae less about sex but I want another child so bad but feel like I can't because I'm on meds. christin

Hello-

I recently read a post on here that talked about taking acai to help with the sexual side effects of SSRIs. I have taken Paxil for about 13 years and have had angst about sex too. I also recently started using NatureBlessed concentrated cherry juice. It is kind of like the acai, in that it contains high levels of antioxidants. I am taking it because it is supposed to reduce inflammation and I am battling hip bursitis, BUT... the last 2 times my husband and I had sex, I noticed that I was aroused MUCH faster than before and was able to O much quicker with less stimulation. Sorry to be so graphic. But-- really, you can buy it at your grocery store in the refrigerated juice section. It's about $20 for a bottle that lasts 1 month if you take it as directed, and it's only cherry juice. Nothing else. Nothing scary to have side effect fears from.

Give it a whirl. I hope it helps. Sex is a gift from God that He wants us to enjoy with our husband or wife-- He doesn't mean for it to be a torture.
