I am getting laid off from my job with 10 other people. I am going to be 50 in less than two years! My work history is not very good. I have been from job to job. This 2.5 years is the longest I have held a job in many, many many years! People just don't want to keep me. I'm an "artist" I suppose.
I AM SO SCARED! I HAVE A WIFE AND CHILD AND HOME AND MORTGAGE! THANK GOD MY WIFE WORKS!
I AM PRAYING BUT SCARED!
WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ABOUT RETIREMENT!
This job had A STATE PENSION!
NOW I LOST IT!

Songwriter, I am sorry to hear you have been laid off. I am 46 and went from 40+ hours per week to 12. My boss hasn't laid me off yet, but has told me I am on a week-to-week basis now. I use the tools I learned in this Program to keep my anxiety at an appropriate level. I have been journaling, meditating, using the relaxation cd, exercising.

Good Luck and know you are not alone in this.

When I get in the "place" that you appear to be in, I have to look at the postive side of my life. In your case you mention a couple - your wife and child. I bet if you look some more you can find other things to be grateful for.

The economy is getting bad for everyone. Try to remember you are not alone. It is the people in our lives that matter. We don't have to go it alone. Problems shared are problems weakened.

All my best,

Dan

Sorry to hear about your job. Have you considered going back to school? 50 is not old according to today's standards. I wish you luck and prayers.
