Fear Not, For I Am with You

Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (KJV)

There are at least 110 times in the scriptures where it references the words "fear not." However, every time God tells us not to fear, He also tells us the reason why: for the Lord thy God is with US where ever we go.

God told Joshua when he had to take Moses position. Do you know what type of leader Moses was?

A man who struck a rock and water came forth, who prayed and manna fell from heaven, who stretched forth his rod and parted the Red Sea. He had such a strong anointing on him.

God tells Joshua this again and again, dont fear be strong and courageous. Why? He knows that what we say and do have a lot to do with whether we function in faith or fear, anxiety/panic. So He commanded him to not to be afraid. And God reminded Joshua that He is with him. Well, Joshua got a hold of that revelation and eventually took the people over into the promised land.

And God is telling us to "fear not" today. God will never leave us. We don't have to fear anything for the Lord is with us where ever we go.

We find elsewhere in scripture, Davids assurance of Gods presence with him. When he had to face Goliath, the giant, he ran toward him instead of running away from him. He threw a stone with his slingshot! It hit him right between the eyes and knocked him out (see I Samuel 17). I know what happened. An angel got behind that rock and gave it some extra velocity.

Now, why was David not afraid? Because He knew he had a covenant with God; therefore, he was confident that God was always with him.

What giant are you or I facing today? Well, the very same anointing that was on David is on us, and it will do the same thing with any Goliath in our life's. But know we have the VICTORY!!

Scripture References: Joshua 1:1-18; Hebrews 13:5-6

Believer08,

That was wonderful. I love when you post stuff because I always seem to need to hear it. I have been keeping my faith in God but some things I need to work on. I am growing in faith and not going by what I feel. God has told us not to fear yet that is what we do when we have anxiety or panic attacks. It just proves that we need to rely on Him and stop going by what we feel. I know that I have been trying very hard to stay on top of my anxiety because alot of times it is just me thinking the worse that can happen. I have done real well lately and I can talk myself out of it. With alot of prayer and knowing that God is behind me all the steps of my ways has helped out alot. I did a study yesterday on Psalm 91 and wow it really made you think differently about all the anxiety that people are feeling. I know that my family and I are protected by the Lord and that is what I pray over them all the time, but it was broken up in such a way that it brought me much comfort. Thanks so much for reinforcing what I already knew. I guess it is different sometimes when we read it again, I was feeling a little out of breath from cleaning in a hurry and it made me feel weird but after all of this I feel much better. I praise God for sending you on here when I need it to post such encouraging things. God bless you in all that you do.

Thank you for that. I know God is always with us and the magnitude of his love is beyond our comprehension. I know even when we are not thinking of him HE is with us.

Thank you so much for your messages. I just started the intro the the Attacking Anxiety..Program, and I have wanted to make sure that I am applying God's truth to the principles in the program. I have been struggling with some fears from my past, and your references to Joshua 1:9, Psalm 91, etc. were vey helpful. Just knowing there are other Christians on here helps me. Thank you!

God Is a Good Father

Many people think God uses sickness and disease to teach His children lessons. But if I were to teach one of my children a lesson by striking them blind or giving them cancer, I would be an unfit parent! God is not an unfit parent.

Jesus is a perfect reflection of the heavenly Father. And Acts 10:38 tells us that He went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil. Part of the good Jesus did included healing sickness. John 10:10 tells us that the devil is the one who oppresses us with sickness; God is the One who gives us abundant life! James 1:17 says that every good and every perfect gift comes from God above. This powerful truth, based on the revealed Word of God, can completely change your life if you embrace it and apply it to all your circumstances.

My Declaration of Faith for Today
God is a good God, and He brings good things into my life as I put my trust in Him.
