Howdy gang,

There's no doubt people are drawn to gloom and doom and crises. But since it tends to mess with us so easily it's crucial towards our recovery that we fight that urge and feed our minds with encouraging and uplifting stuff. Just because something comes easy , like being drawn to crap, doesn't mean we need to give in to it. Thinking more positive and chosing to fill our minds with good stuff is a deliberate thing and part of being our own best friend and advocate. I wish it wasn't so much work to get better ..Yikes I want to get paid for this haha.

p/s thats why I watch mostly HGTV and the Food Network. It's creative and user friendly

Agree completely! Except my go-to channels are HGTV and DIY

A sensitive personality can definitely be a gift, but we must also be careful not to expose ourselves to unecessary problems that we have no control over. I don't advocate being blind to the world around us, and we should help others while we can, but there is no need to feed our minds with junk! We feel so empathetic for others and take on all the problems around us. Again, sometimes a gift, but also something to always be aware of.

I'll try to enjoy my Saturday but I have a large work project due Monday, so my enjoyment will be limited!

Absolutely everyone.....I just posted a reply in regard to how we FOCUS on the negative around us. This isnt unusual at all. Its not our faults...Its the way life is now. I feel technology has made things more complicated and difficult. The more you have the more you have to worry about is my motto. We are just human for crying out loud. How much stress can a body take??? Worry worry worry!!!! Taking one day, looking at all the good thats in it and seeking out good company, music, events, food, and news will make a major difference.

I need to balance out my life more with the uplifting things. I'm going to get stuck on the positive things, we are too trained to look at the negative.

Good observations and good advice. There certainly is a lot of negativity barraging us from every direction. Not only can we work on tuning out the bad stuff, but like you said, we can actively seek out the good stuff too.

A record player in a briefase ???? yikes ! You're not as young as you may think you are. LOL Before you know it, you'll be clipping coupons for Geritol, Poly-grip and Depends !

Actually, when I started buying cd's when they first came out to the mass public (1985ish), I gave the album away. I wish I never did that. The first time a record is played sounds WAY better than a cd. I'm thinking of buying some of those albums back. We have a few used record shops around here. I built shelves for my cd's, I can build shelves for my albums (I still have albums, just not as many as I used to). Last year, I "inhereted" my dad's 78's ! (for those of you that seriosly don't know....except you SeaRunner and THH, because you're old)....those were 78rpm records that were made of wax. I don't have a record player that plays them, but I'm sure you guys do ! LOL

I have them next to my 8-tracks. You gotta love it when a song fades out and then the loud "ka-thunk" then the song fades back in. Not much thought went into 8-tracks.

Yes, a record player in a briefcase. I was a man on the move! I only had two or three records as a kid since they were fading out about the time I started listening to music. My dad has a whole box of them in the attic somewhere. I don't even think he has a turn table anymore.

I've seen an 8-track, even touched one once, but I've heard one or actually used a player. My folks had one of those huge console stereos when I was little. It had a radio, record player, and an 8-track. And it took up half the living room. I remember being fascinated withe the buttons. There were a few 8-tracks in the console in a nifty storage compartment but I was never so bold as to actually play one. Oh, such a wasted youth!

As for giving up things from our youth, my biggest regret were my Legos. I totally should have kept them. Why are we so shortsighted?

Regarding my age, I'm only in my mid-thirties. Am I really ready for Geritol and Depends? It sounds like I'm going to get dementia before I get over my anxiety and panic attacks. Oh well, at least I won't remember them, LOL!

Our family also had one of those tv, stereo, radio things. We had rabbit ears to get our tv picture sorta clear! LOL... We would put alum. foil on them hoping for a clearer picture! LOL...
Ahhhh the good ole days. Oh yes I bet you do wish you hung on to your Leggos! Big bucks now days.

We do have a record player that will play 78's! LOL...You can still buy them at special places. My husband has a bunch of old albums and we can play them. Your right they are 10 x better then cds!!!!
We have a friend who has a player piano too! LOL... SeaRunner may not remember those! He bought a box of scrolls at a garage sale and they are great, snappie little tunes!

well guys I had a 1974 monte carlo that had a eight trach tape player in it thought it was so cool . Then in no time came the cassette tape. I stayed with my eight track for a while but eventually got another car with the cassette player. also searunner I had one of those larger console for the house that played records and had a eight track player and recorder would record from the radio or my records. I thought that was the coolest thing since sliced bread.LOL

People I have got to get off my back side and get to challenging myself. New territory new frontier. yipee I am stuck I am a putter offer I thought I would have been doing so much better but didn't try hard enough oh well always tomorrow.

Did you happen to see the program Sunday Morning, They had a group of Lego people, with all these people building a ton of cool stuff with Lego's! It was in Virginia, One guy had $40,000. worth of logos! It was really neat, I thought of you as you mentioned Legos. There are all age people, one 80 years old. It was fun to see. Hope you seen it!
