And of course you cannot tell your boss he told you to do it his way otherwise you risk losing your job.

How about this one. I have very mild asthma but in 2007 I was out lot from work from it. (Now in hind sight I am not sure if it was asthma and/or anxiety. Chest tightness, a symptom for both illnesses, was the main culprit.) My boss at the time had a sister's whose asthma was so bad she almost died from it. He started getting on my case for being out because of asthma. He even projected how many times I would be out for the year and that was "not acceptable."

Man (pun intended, :p), I was just like you with that job and the most recent one: I came home angry. I was never violent to my wife or anyone else, but I would get easily aggravated and maybe slam an inaminate object during the first 30-60 minutes I was home. She felt bad for me, especially if I told her if the day was crappy. We couldn't figure it until the waning days of my last gig.

Why wait til next year (even though it's over a month away)? Start looking into a business now. (Just a suggestion.) You're actually in a better position than me. You are working. Starting a business while already employed is better.

You never know Chuck. It could've been either asthma or anxiety. I know when I get anxious, I have trouble breathing too. (especially over the past few weeks.)

I think that you are in a good position to start your own business too. You are right, why wait until the new year. We can both go online to look up job opportunities and see what the likes and dislikes are. If you know what you want to do, maybe take some night courses if you can afford it. I can do the same. I think that people like us can become awesome business owners. We have the people skills ! We know what it's like to be treated like dirt over and over again. We know what it's like to come home angry after a "wonderful" day at work. I'm also tired of making other people rich while I'm just getting by while working my backside off. You know.........owning my own business is looking better and better.

Grrrrrreat attitude, manofmusic!!! Great! Thanks for including me.

I actually have been fortunate with my current unemployment situation. NY State has a program that if you get accepted, you can receive unemployment and build a business. I got in. The state also has free entrepreunerial classes which I have taken. These class were regardless if you are unemployed or employed.

Maybe check out your province and see if they free or low cost unemployment classes. Here is the link from New York's offering.

Maybe you can use it as an example when you ask your locality.

I grab the good attitudes as they come. I'm just so scared right now. I know what needs to change, but I terrified. I woke up this morning shaking. I get into moods where maybe my boss is right about me, or maybe I won't ever be able to make it on my own as a business owner. It's one of those days.

Sorry. I know the feeling.

I am cuurently going through my own spell of confusion, feeling bad and regret regarding my finances.

A more pressing issue though: hunger. I am heading to the store for my wife and I.

I missed in the post before that you got into the program. Congratulations ! That's a big start. I will look and see if Canada has a program that's similar. One step at a time in the right direction is good. As for the "boss" at work tomorrow, I'm going to take it one day at a time. I'm going to try and not think ahead because who knows, maybe I won't be there at the end of the year. Maybe I'll be well on my way somewhere else.

Taking it one day at a time is an excellent thing.

I'm learning that. Thanks Chuck. Today was a good day at work too. I'm still looking into my own business though.

Cool beans.

You may already know this. Make your business from what enjoy doing or are good at. Otherwise it will be just another job--only for the money.

Part of my evening anger was that I was working only for money and bills. The eight hours a day were spent doing something I didn't want to do with people I don't want to spend time with.

BTW: I sent the papers to my accountant to incorporate my business. I thought because I am a one-man operation, sole proprietorship is the way to go. In the classes I was taking an accountant came in for a presentation and I began working with him. I don't know about Canadian business law but here in NY it turns out incorporation reduces taxes and chances of an audit. The change will take about a month.

That is the same evening anger I have and for the same reasons. There are people there that I do talk to and I do like, but unfortunately, the people I work closest to, I don't.

I'm beginning to figure out what I want to do. I'm writing everything down. I think that I will go back to night school for some business type classes in January.

I'm actually not thinking about my job as much anymore. I'm too busy thinking about what I want to do in the future !
