I tried to find the Sam Obitz book at my library. There is no Sam Obitz books there, at all. Not even at surrounding libraries. How did you get a hold of this book? WHere do I get it?

Hi Carla42,

You have to order this book at www.tao3.com.

It is a very short book (about 112 pages with large print, so it reads fast) and pretty much boils cognitive behavioral therapy down to the essence. I used my Visa card and I think it cost about $16.00 for the book and shipping. It took about a week to arrive.

I got my counters at Sports Authority in the golf section. Could not find anyone who carries wrist counters, but these are small enough to fit in your pocket or hang off your belt loop.

Hope this answers all your questions.

Best regards, samcat

Carla42,

You are very welcome. We are all in the same boat and have to help each other if we are going to get better. And I am totally determined to get better!!

Hope this book helps. You'll get lots of practice refuting your negative thoughts and that is one of the big problems that fuels anxiety /depression. This Sam Obitz guy was in therapy for 30 years, so he knows a lot about what everybody with this mood disorder is experiencing.

Take care , samcat

I think having determination to get better is half the battle. Doing the TEA forms feel tedious and boring at times but if you are determined and stick with them they really help change your outlook and your life.

Which counter exercise are you using? It seems too hard to do both at the same time to me.
I know your question was addressed to samcat so I hope you don't mind me jumping in with my advice. Start using to count negative thoughts because this will help you come up with the thoughts you need to counter and eliminate. Once you get that down then give the other counter exercise a try.

Quite the contrary, I'm glad you jumped in and replied! Especially since I have not yet heard back from samcat. This makes more sense to me and I appreciate the advice. Doing both at the same times seems like it might be counter productive.

I don't have anything to add here really but wanted to say hi and good job to all the people who are having success using the TEA forms. It's great to hear others success stories!

Jilly,

It is the simple thought countering exercise used in the book this thread pertains too. They have worked great for me but you have to keep at them to get the best results.
