hey everyone
usually after i respond to a post i don't come back and check on it but i just knew that this particular one would have many responses. It was such an amazing topic by GI. I want to thank everyone on behalf of myself and GI for responding. So many of you made very good points. I was up last night thinking about the past four years and thinking about the good times i missed out on because i was dwelling on my anxiety. All i know now is that im tired of not enjoying my life so if i'm going to feel like sh*t all the time at least i'm going to be having fun from now on.

Can I ask what gave you the idea to write a goodbye letter to anxiety? So brilliant.

You know you're recovering when you can write a goodbye letter to anxiety and realize that it's not something you have to be stuck with. Sounds like an easy enough concept but so hard to believe.

Smurfy,
I got the idea from hearing from people who suffer from drugs and/or alcohol write "good-bye" letters to their problem to help defeat it. I thought the idea was great and decided to apply it to my problem. I think it helped get some of those negative feelings out.

abundantliving,
It broke my heart just now to read your post. I know how it feels to feel like your just exsiting & not being in the "precious present moment." To put so much pressure on yourself...Wow! Definatley overwhelming! Who appointed you in charge? LOL Are you trying to give yourself a heart attack? My most favorite quote is "Happiness is a journey, not a destination!" You sound like a caring person but you need to quit worrying about everyone else & start taking care of yourself. You'll be no good to anyone if you keep this up. I too put alot of pressure on myself to keep my family together, be the strong one, Do all the right things & I'll tell ya...I got chest pains, Hair loss, headaches etc...
Anxiety & Stress takes it's toll. I hope you will walk out the door everyday & say to yourself, "No worries. Life is good!" Live for today!

I am going to have to print this out, and post it on my wall. I hope you don't mind, but the letter made me feel empowered. It's the same thing that I want to say to my anxiety. It's been 6 years since my anxiety came into my life, and that's 6 years too long. I've missed out on so much, and I don't want to miss out on anything else.
Thank you for posting it...

Tye,
I'm glad what I wrote made you feel empowered. I wrote it to make myself feel that way. I'm so over it and I hope with this program it will help me regain my life back. We've lost too much precious time. I don't want to look back one day and say wow look at all that time I wasted on worrying and feeling afraid. Good luck to you.
