Hi Everyone,
I would love to share a few scriptures with you concerning how Jesus was "tempted" by satan...
<< Matthew 4 >>
King James Bible
1 Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
I don't know if Jesus was literally having a "conversation" with satan by mouth, or if Satan was placing these thoughts in his mind...
Okay, let's try and link these other Scriptures and see what happens...
(John 1:1-3) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
{2} The same was in the beginning with God.
{3} All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."
(John 1:14) "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
(Heb 1:3) "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;"
(Heb 2:9) "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man."
(Heb 2:16) "For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham."
(Heb 4:15-16) "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
{16} Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."
(Phil 2:5-11) "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
{6} Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
{7} But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
{8} And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
{9} Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
{10} That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
{11} And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
I think it makes sense that Satan can place any type of "scary" "negative" or "obsessive" thoughts into our minds!!!
I am turning this little thread back over to it's original owner and I am going to bed
Goodnight to All...I pray those "peaceful" thoughts replace those "scary obsessive ones" so everyone will get a great night's rest!!!
