Wendy,
The weekends are the best time for me to sleep without meds, so you've made a good decision (plus, you can always take the Ambien and not worry about grogginess at work/school).
My little brother had a really bad episode last semester, and he TOTALLY swears by the tryptophan. I was surprised it worked so well, considering the level of his stress. You should be able to find it at any healthfood store.

EMDR has been the best therapy I've experienced to date. I have anxiety and panic and it is the best. I would strongly recommend finding a certified practitioner- you can go the EMDR website and they have a list for where you live.
Best of luck

EMDR is complex and seems a little kooky when you first hear about it. But, I've done it and was HUGELY surprised at the affect it had on me...in a good way. It does take time. It is very different and you can not do it alone. However, it is worth it, I think, especially if other avenues have failed you.
