MrCleveland, Me reading and going by what you just told us, To me it says that you have not had the disscussion with him.

You are feeling guilty only you know the facts, Is my thinking on the correct path?

Might mention to him that you are trying to row your own boat, meaning "your life" and he keeps dragging you to shore.
Or maybe he see's you struggleing in rough waters and is trying to teach.
Until your boundry is explained to him he will more than likely not realize what he is doing.

The anger is what your feeling as I read the words. Maybe give him a hug first.

We can only change ourselves. Sometimes doing that, causes a change in others.

Mr Cleveland, let your parents think that you are mad at them. Because you really are. Are you still working with them in their business or shared business? I remember you saying that you had to help them because they were doing a "job" for one of your clients or friend, or was it your boss?

So you felt compelled to help them pave that guy's driveway...right? My eldest has been angry with my husband for many things and has let him know it. They get things resolved, but still things come up since my son is a part of our business. I've noticed that usually men get over things a lot better than women, but maybe I have that wrong.

I guess men are more allowed to express their emotion of anger than women so then it gets out in the open. I hope you are feeling a bit better than before.

Paislee, please don't by that crap. I am stepping out to say that men basically bully their way. It is no more better or prudent for them to loose it then I or you.
It is very hard to match each others communication of meanings at times.
If voices flare then all shuts down or anger engages.
Calmness and clarity about the issue. Easy saying it.... living it takes much practice.

Thank you, SoWhatif! I know my dad bullied me and my sons bully me at least two of them, the more expressive type, the other two kept it inside until it "ate them up".

I hope Mr Cleveland can find a way to stand up to his father. He seems to have a good heart and cares about his parents, but they depend on him too much, at least that is what I'm getting from his postings about them.
