Hi DebDeb!
Sorry to hear that you're having such a rough day. Just remember, your mom may be contributing to the problem, but only to the extent that you allow her to. Maybe not talking to her - at least about issues that will bring up negativity on both of your parts - is a good idea for the present.
Have you been doing the relaxation CD? It sounds like you are pretty tightly wound right now. Don't forget to take care of you. You are worth it!
Best,
Dawn

You're right; the less she knows the less negative
comments I will hear. Thank You

I am very uptight but I have been thinking positive thoughts and I am breathing calming.
I will try to take a break and listen to the cd
at lunchtime.
I will be less affected and more effective!!

There must be something in the wind! I woke up with tears in my eyes this morning too! Haven't done that in a long time. I traced some of it to what my very first automatic thoughts were before I even got out of bed and think I found some of the reason for it.
Deb - I think Sybil had a good idea. I did this with my Mom at one time. I just kept some things to myself that I knew would invoke an unpleasant response from her and it worked out much better. I still communicated with her on a close level but some things I just did not talk about anymore.

Hi Mary
Sorry that you are upset too. Is there something bother you too? It's good that you have identified it because it's better to know what you are upset about rather than worrying over why we are feeling this way.

Hi DebDeb.
You have to be very sure that your mom is wrong before you cancel-out what she's saying. Sometimes people on the outside looking in can see things more clearly because they are not emotionally attatched to the situation.

DebDeb- It was some old automatic thought patterns that wanted to come back. I've had a very big adjustment to make in my life this year and at first would wake up with the thought "How am I going to fill the day, there are so many hours etc." Which of course made me feel bad. I changed that thought to "I have the whole day to do exactly what I want to do. I feel grateful and lucky." Anyway, the old thoughts were creeping back this morning but am working on the positive .

DEb- I cry sometimes over that song you mentioned too. But my reason is it reminds me of a musician I was in love with at one time who dumped me for the keyboard player in his band! God, that was years ago and that song still gets me. No need to reply- just a comment.
