LEXAPRO MAKES YOU GAIN SOOOOO MUCH WEIGHT...it helps but I gained 50lbs and I exercised and everything. I'm now med free but I deal with the anxiety somehow...

Not everyone gains weight on Lexapro. I am still in the same weight range as before I started it 9 months ago.

I won't take any of the meds they want me to for Fibromyalgia, because I know they make you gain weight. I don't take any anti-depressants, cause they make me too nervous and I can handle a little depression now and then. It goes away in time! But I do take klonopin for anxiety/panic. That is something I just can not handle. I've always been a high-strung person, but I hide it inside! I was a very shy child and when I started menistrating, it turned to panic attacks and anxiety. I have always thought it was a hormonal thing. Doctors have told me that I have a chemical imbalance in my brain. Has anyone else ever been told that?

Yes, most people who suffer from chronic anxiety, panic, depression often do have a chemical imbalance such as low serotonin, or low dopamine. This is not uncommon and that is why so many people find relief with certain meds, it balances those chemicals out and puts them in a correct state. Now meds can be a hit or miss, sometimes you need to try a few before you find the right one/dose for you but when you do it can change how you feel drastically. Horomones can cause chemical imbalances as well so what you may feel may be totally related to your hormones as well.

Noelle-
I agree with you about Lexapro, as far as the weight gaining issue is concerned. I am in the same weight range that I was when I started it almost 3 years ago. I have not gained any weight taking Lexapro. It has worked for me pretty well.
