i was homeless for a year and had been in the 72 hr holds and have been depressed all my life. i got ssdi in 1990 was easier then but you just need good docs and history, it is also determined by education levels. i went on general relief and when i appllied for that was crying and it wasn't fake so i got the intake worker for the disabled, and then they made me apply for ssi/ssdi. easier for females than males to get help with the gov. just start saving letters etc from work and days off etc. sorry but it will take a few years to get help from the gov.

i think things vary from state to state. for example, i had an acquaintance who received about $150 more SSD than me a month. however, she lived in Atlanta and was able to get food stamps--while I am not able to get them.
