For uplifting, comforting music I love the soundtrack from The Sound Of Music, especially My Favorite Things and Edelweiss. Reminds me of cuddly times at night when my kids were little tots. Ahhh memories.
For relaxing music I love Pachelbel's Canon in D major. Awesome soothing piece.
Another recent favorite of mine for relaxing is Inkas Wasi World 443. Very soothing old world flute music with a modern touch.

Good music is better than a fine wine!

Rain Down by Delirious

Looks like tonight, the sky is heavy
Feels like the winds are gonna change
Beneath my feet, the earth is ready
I know its time for heaven's rain, it's gonna rain
It's gonna rain, again

Cos it's living water we desire
To flood out hearts with holy fire

Rain down all around the world we're singing
Rain down can you here the earth is singing
Rain down my heart is dry but still I'm singing
Rain down rain it down on me.

Back to the start, my heart is heavy
Feels like it's time, to dream again
I hear your voice, and yes I'm ready
To dance upon this barren land
Hope in my hands

Do not shut, Do not shut, Do not shut the heavens
But open up, open up, open up our hearts

Give me strength to cross the water
Keep my heart upon your altar
Give me strength to cross this water
Keep my feet don’t let me falter

Wow, this is a cool topic. I think someone did this b/4 & lol - I picked the same song I'm gonna here - COMING OUT OF THE DARK - Gloria Estafan. I love all music - this song so describes the journey to recovery & recovery.

LENORE

COMING OUT OF THE DARK

Why be afraid if Im not alone
Though life is never easy the rest in unkown
Up to now for me its been hands against stone
Spent each and every moment
Searching for what to believe

(chorus)
Coming out of the dark, I finally see the light now
Its shinning on me
Coming out of the dark, I know the love that saved me
Youre sharing with me

Starting again is part of the plan
And Ill be so much stronger holding your hand
Step by step Ill make it through I know I can
It may not make it easier but I have felt you
Near all the way

(repeat chorus)

Forever, forever I stand on the rock of your love
Forever Ill stand on the rock
Forever, forever I stand on the rock of your love
Love is all it takes, no matter what we face

"Soar" by Christina Aguilera, and her incredible voice makes it even more powerful.

Now in life there's gonna be times
When you're feeling low
And in your mind insecurities seem to take control
We start to look outside ourselves
For acceptance and approval
We keep forgetting that the one thing we should know is

Don't be scared
To fly alone
Find a path that is your own
Love will open every door
It's in your hands the world is yours
Don't hold back and always know
All the answers will unfold
What are you waiting for
Spread your wings and soar

Music is powerful, my son just got married for the mother son dance he wanted us to dance to Journey's Don't stop Believin. He remembers as a baby and young boy I used to sing it to him all of the time. We danced and had a beautiful moment together. Music builds memories

Well I have a lot of songs that help me escape and relax, but the one that sticks in my mind the most is Dream a Little Dream by the Mama's and the Papas. My mom used to sing this to me most every night as a kid to put me to sleep. Even though I don't particularly remember that...I must have some kind of unconscious connection to the song. It always makes me smile, makes me think of my mom, and makes me feel safe. Actually last year on the plane ride home, they had XM radio. We were about to land (taking off and landing make me very anxious) and this song came on the radio. I knew then I would be just fine :)
