Greetings -- I don't think the minute amounts of caffeine in these diet sodas is significant. I too, though, worry about the sugar substitutes. Furthermore, the acid in any of the sodas over time wil eat away at the enamel on your teeth. Perhaps decaf tea and coffee is best and water is also good.

I read a book about a healthy way to eat and live last year. Rather interesting book. It said that sugar substitutes are very bad for you. They are chemicals that are not good for your body. If I accidently eat/drink something with a sugar substitute in it, I get a headache from it. So, I try to stick with the real stuff, but in great moderation. I have cut down on sweets in a big way. When I bake, I cut the amount of sugar to a very small amount. Also, I don't drink coffee and I try to limit my sodas to root beer (no caffiene) and only on occasion. Doing all of this has helped me a lot. Good luck to you with your choices.

I agree with what has been said by the others, most of the time when they advertise sugar-free it means the sugar is replaced with something more harmful to your body than natural sugar but it's not technically called sugar...

I think I read somewhere that most decaf drinks still have about 10% of the caffeine in them. Decaf green tea brewed for 1-3 minutes is supposed to have about 1-4 grams of caffeine, decaf coffee is supposed to have around 4 grams of caffeine.

I still drink decaf green tea for the antioxidants. The amount of caffeine in decaf is pretty insignificant unless you drink a lot of it.

Your safest bet is water. I too feel that sugar substitutes are bad for you, I trust God more than scientists. And to make coffee decaf they have to use chemicals on the beans since coffee is naturally caffenated. Also I read somewhere your body naturally craves sugar so that is why people that drink/eat only non-sugar items seem to be heavier. They are trying to fulfill a craving and never do so the craving doesn't go away.
