Has anyone tried the xanax extended release? I think it is kind of new. Doctor wanted me to take regular xanax twice a day. (.25 morn and night). I am so pillaphobic that this does not appeal to me..... wondering about the extended release.

hey i have been on xanax xr for about four years. one 1mg pill a day. it worked really well for me. it's prob not doing much now, as your body builds a resistance to this type of medication after a long period of time. i am currently weaning off my paxil, and will wean off of the xanax xr once i'm completely done w/ the paxil. don't be afraid of it though. it will help. good luck

I was taking regular xanax 2 or 3 times a day and would get anxious before time for next dose...always watching the clock and waiting for it to wear off. I started the xr today and for the first time didn't worry about when I could take more! It made a big difference. My doctor told me I could take it every 12 hours if needed but going to see if I can make it til morning.

That sounds great, my problem is, that I was only taking .25 once a day and my doctor told me the xr only comes in 1 mg. I think that might kick my tail. I am glad it is working for you. I might just go back to the .25 but take it at bedtime and in the am.
