Volcano, Our relationship with God IS NOT about "feelings". like our earthly relationships. I have to admit that there are some days that I don't feel so in love with my husband
Our "emotions" get the best of us sometimes, ya know? However, deep down, past all the pride, I love him unconditionally!!!
I DO believe that your case may be OCD(however, I am NOT a specialist). I have what we call here "Pure O"..which is Obsessive thoughts. or what one person put it "OST" Obsessive scary thoughts". I've never been diagnosed with it, but as I read all the other posts, I figured it out myself. And guess what? EVERYONE has those thoughts from time to time, however, someone like myself gets "stuck" in those thoughts. Please read "Boons" posts..She has alot of wisdom concerning this stuff! She has helped me so much, as well as alot of others here. She is right on with her advice..check it out!
Please keep posting here as well as reading other posts..It has helped me IMMENSLEY!!! and I am confident it will do the same for YOU! Do you have the program? If not, I highly suggest it. You can buy it at amazon and Ebay for affordability.

Hey, I've gone through those weird thought patterns too.
It's super important to know that you are saved by grace and not by works. No Christian is without sin or sinful thought, I'll bet on a daily basis, what matters is that you just try your best. Only you and God know your heart - keep praying and asking God to take these thoughts from you. Over time I know He will. We can't underestimate the power of prayer, after all we wouldn't be on this forum if it weren't for Lucinda praying for answers many years ago.
I was just reading this last night in Panic to Power, if you aim for perfection you'll never reach it and will always disappoint, but just aim for doing your best. So by telling yourself or guilting yourself about your thoughts you are never getting to a reachable bar, it's always unattainable.
And if you keep thinking "don't think this, stop thinking this" it's really all you can think about. Try to move your thoughts to the next thing instead of chastising yourself for the thought. Don't let the enemy win! Also you may want to try to busy yourself with something psychically, a chore, project, activity, whatever to quiet your mind.
The fact that you feel remorseful about these thoughts is important. I can really tell you are walking with the Holy Spirit. If you didn't care, you would have no relationship with Him. You are having a "Battlefield of the Mind" as Joyce Meyer puts it. In time this shall pass.

Yes, Volcano, it would be very beneficial for you to see a doctor. It may be very comforting to know that all you are experiencing is OCD. (Which is exactly what you are going through. It's not dangereous in anyway.) Sometimes hearing a doctor tell you that can be soothing. There is medication for it, however, you will still need to learn the tools that this program offers (and other programs offered out there for this). Some choose to take meds and some do not. Whatever you prefer. The tools will help you move through your thoughts, feelings, sensations, memories, etc.
The program is called StressCenter Stress and Anxiety Program. You can purchase it on line through this forum.

Volcano,
I have in the past been tormented with thoughts as these. Now I realize this condition itself, made me torment myself over these thoughts.
Here is a poem actually two that may help you in some small way, they have comforted me in my darkest hours.
WE CANT... BUT GOD CAN!!!
Why things happen as they do
We do not always know,
And we cannot always fathom
Why or spirits sink so low...
We flounder in our dark distress,
We are wavering and unstable,
But when we're most inadequate
The Lord God's Always Able...
For though we are incapable,
God's powerful and great,
And there's NO darkness of the mind
That God can't penetrate...
And all that is required of us
Whenever things go wrong
Is to trust in God implicitly
With a Faith that's deep and strong,
And while He may not instantly
Unravel all the strands
Of the tangled thoughts that trouble us-
He completely understands...
And in His time, if we have FAITH,
He will gradually restore
The brightness to our spirit
That we've been longing for...
So remember, there's no cloud too dark
For God's light to penetrate
If we keep on believing
And have Faith Enough to wait!

I was regretting the past and fearing the future. Suddenly my Lord was speaking: "My name is I am." He paused. I waited. He continued,
"When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets, it is hard. I am not there. My name is not I was. When you live in the furture, with its problems and fears, it is hard. I am not there. My hame is not I will be. When you live in this moment, it is not hard. I am here. My name is I am.

I hope some of this helps. Please do not torment yourself. It is only a thought. Thoughts only thoughts. God loves you. He's a forgiving God. Don't be so hard on yourself, quit beating yourself up. Just continue with this program, things will get better. I have been there, and now life is better, life is good. Keep that hope. Everything will be ok
