Hello guys.

I am trying to get over a severe sinus infection/bronchitis episode that I've had the past 1 1/2 weeks.

I was really sick on Thanksgiving with a sore throat, sinus infection, bronchitis, and a fever of 101.6
The doctor thought I had a touch of pneumonia too I think. Anyway, they started me off with an antibiotic that gave me a reaction and had to switch my meds on Monday.

Currently, I am taking Cipro 500mgs twice a day, Methylpredisone pack for 6 days, and a Nystatin oral rinse 4 times a day for 10 days (to clear up the oral thrush I got from the first antibiotic that was prescribed which they had me stop).

Anyway, I have been experiencing night sweats the past several nights. I haven't had a fever in about 5 days now and do feel much better but am still under the weather.

I'm such a worrier and hypochondriac that I expressed concern about the night sweats to my doctor on Monday and told her that I wanted an HIV test. I just received my results yesterday for HIV and it came back negative.

So my concern and question is this...

Are the night sweats due to my body still fighting off this infection and possibly the antibiotic?

Or, is it due to the anxiety disorder that seems to come and go.

Thanks guys.

I like you was experiencing night sweats and went to the doctor this week. He didn't seem too concerned with it. He ordered bloodwork and I should get the results by Fri. He really thinks it's due to the anxiety and perscribed lexapro. Of course I havent taken it yet because I am hoping to try to deal with this with the natural pills. The good day vitamins really seem to be helping!!!! Dont worry.

Hi there Blake! Just wanted to put my two cents in.....well first of all you're fighting an infection...so OF COURSE you will experience sweating, especially at night when you are covered up. That is your body way of cooling your body when fever reduces and also to rid the body of infections. Also can be caused by anxiety or medication, or a combo of these three things, so dont worry! I get night sewats alot....Hope this helps.

Hey Blake ,

As above it is due to your body reacting to the infection and may do it even if the infection has cleared up for a while.Antibiotics still work days after you have finished them as well.Sometimes I get night sweats just from being overly tired from time to time.Depending on your age and life changes your body will go through changes over the years.

Don't sweat it :) Just kidding, couldn't resist. Sometimes a good laugh helps relieve stress.

Last year at this time I was going through a major anxiety attack, GAD and I was sweating on the bottoms of my feet and my palms. It was so weired because at 57 years old, I had NEVER in my entire life experienced anything like that before! But the sweating, although a common symptom of anxiety, is in itself harmless.
Do some Ci Gong relaxation exercises before bedtime and avoid watching anything scary (including news) on TV.
God Bless and peace be with you.

Hey Blake, Don56 is right, don't sweat it. HaHa. Humor is good for us anxious folks. The other posts are right, the sweating is your body fighting off an infection. I was just on cipro a couple of weeks ago and I had night sweats, too. Once the infection cleared, so did the night sweats.

Take it easy while healing from the sinus infection/ bronchitis/possible pneumonia. Your body is fighting an infection and needs its rest.

READ THIS BLAKE... I literally posted this yesterday!!! Trust me I can relate, this all happened day after thanksgiving!

I've been a hypochondriac for as long as I can remember and for the past couple of years, everything has been fine, until now!

A couple weeks ago I got sick and was bed ridden for a few days until I got to the doctor. After a brief examination, doc determined that I had strep throat! Put me on antibiotics and most symptoms went away.

Here is my predicament. Half way through taking the antibiotics I got a different kind of sore throat, very scratchy. Mind you I always have nasal drip, but it hurt particularly worse this day. I took some losanges and felt better. After that I noticed raised taste buds on the back of my tongue. Thought it might be thrush. After analyzing the situation, I now firmly believe that I have HIV. Thrush and sore throat is common in HIV.

I'm currently going out of my mind.

I know there may be reasonable explanations for all of my symptoms, but put them together and sounds like HIV!

Does anyone have any advise? It is killing me and my relationship. What if I do have it? Then i'd have to tell me girlfriend and probably lose her. Then live my life with a uncurable disease.

Please note I go to the doctors with ever single problem I have...sometimes 4 times a month. Got blood work done about 3 weeks ago before this new problem occurred and everything has come back normal.

While I was on antibiotics, I got crazy night sweats where i woke up like three times in the night having to change my shirt because it was drenched! Seeing that you can relate to me, makes me feel sooo much better...You are fine!!! I just need to tell myself the same thing!
