JP,
Try the deep breathing exercises and say to yourself as you breathe-I am calm, I am calm. If you can, get up and walk around a little and do something physical. Above all, pray for peace of mind. It will come. Remember, it is just thoughts that are scaring you and that's all. It will stop. Good luck. I am wishing you peace and calmness.

I wish I had some advise. Others are here for you and have been through the same thing.
I had anxiety last week and started crying at my desk, so I went home. I came back Monday to wonder if anyone was talking about me, and frankly they had not noticed a thing... nothing! They went on with thier lives. (I had tears running down my cheeks, but it wasn't like I was being vocal and loud about it.) Next time I think I'll just go to the restroom and then for a walk outside. I will breathe DEEP a few times. I'll rub my own shoulders and wiggle my arms to relieve some tension and I'll see if I can stay at work (and hide a little)..
Are you journaling? Can you bring a scrap of paper with you and go somewhere like a restroom or outside or somewhere you're allowed privacy?????
Let us know how you turn out on this one!

JP - Whenever you are having an attack - no matter where you are - make it OK to have. You are resisting. You probably are over this attack by now - going by the time you posted - but try to remember for any future attacks. Welcome it in! Just say, "OK. I feel you and it's OK. Have the attack. I will not abandon you." Use your calm breath. Don't worry about how deep you breath. That will come. Just focus on slowing your breath down. Then get busy in the moment with whatever is on your desk. Yes, you can function with anxiety! It will pass. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
