Most Effective Part of the Program
Hi Mike,
There is no way you are a crazy person, I read your post and all I can say is, THANK YOU! I started to write my negative thoughts, then replacing them with positive and boy are you right! It does feel exciting, looking at the positive things that come out of my mouth, really tells me that I'm not crazy and I can change this. I look at what I write and I'm impressed with my positive thoughts. I can finally see how practicing this will certainly get us past this mess. Thank you, Mike, for taking the time. Suzzie

I was extremely anxious and had so many thoughts going on that I couldn't tell if any were positive or negative - it was just lots of noise that was scaring me.
Hello and Good Tidings to All~
I just began Session #3 and this is EXACTLY how I am feeling. Couldn't find the words to explain it, was JUST NOW thinking about it and clicked on your post and voila..."just lots of noise that's scaring me". *deeeeeeep breath*
I was able to journal a couple of negative thoughts this morning and ended up actually getting to the root of them by backtracking, which I am proud of myself for (negative body issues) but for the most part, yeah...just a helluva lot of noise. Deafening, really.
Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance.
Blessings~
Shelby
Hi Mike. Session Three. They are all good. Maybe Session Nine, too, which is where I am today. Journaling the negatives helped me see patterns. I now see how negatives are also types of circular thinking ... a pattern of going back to the same self put-downs. What I am learning from the journaling of negative self talk is this: I don't really say that many originally different negative things to myself, but the things I do say, I can find a hundred different ways of saying. Powerful stuff, journaling negative self talk. When I spot the pattern, and the reoccurring negative, it helps me begin to reconfigure it into a positive. Because the pattern unravels in the journaling, I don't have as much work to do as I thought during Session Three because if one negative is repeated fifty times, then I only need one good positive to change all that around. Make sense?
Sounds like everyone is doing very well and i'm glad that you've all found this thread to be helpful
Pecos made a really good point that i wanted to comment about.
We don't really say many diffrent negatives to ourselves but we can find hundreds of ways to do it in. This i can definately agree on. We are such creative people and we make little movies inside our heads based on these negative things...It's Just Great actually!!! Not only can you diffuse alot of the negative by working through one thought like Pecos said...this also shows us how creative we are and if we can become creative negatively then we can become creative in a positive sense as well.
I find this really helpful because well i'm in lesson 4 now (for the 5,6,7,8th time i'm not completely sure) and i'm realizing that I'm telling myself i cannot turns these things into goals and plan for them...I mean what happens if i'm not creative enough? Like i see it as if my creativity is in a bottle and there is just sooooo much and if i use it all then i won't have any left and I can kinda laugh at that now. So thank you

hey mike,
like the new look and the great smile and post--of, course you always have great surprises for us.
glad you "showed up
" right around the same time i showed up again. and glad you like the shiatsu--
and about the most effective part of the program: i have to say my mind, like many others here, went immediately to lesson 3
. specifically, writing down negative thoughts and replacing them with positive ones
. in fact, i've been thinking i could use a refresher with that a bit-so thanks for the nudge.
oh, and was it carolyn? yes, i think it was carolyn who suggested, when i called the helpline
, that when i was overwhelmed by the number of negative thoughts--i just didn't feel i had the time/energy to turn them into positive thoughts--she said--find the theme(s)
. so i find a couple of themes to my negative thoughts and wrote positive answers to those.

Ninja,
This was a great question. For me, the most effective part of the program has been journaling; stopping myself from the negative self-talk; and one of my most favorites right now, listing my worries and coming up with a plan of action to turn the worry into a goal, or just simply dismiss it. This has been really great at calming my fears. I wish you and everyone else going through this program the best of luck.

oh, and the relaxation tapes.
i have one from lucinda, one by carolyn--and i nowadays i interchange Lovetapes (by Griswald available at barnes and noble and elsewhere). some of their stuff is music with subliminal. i just used their effective speaking one for about a month--now no one believes that i've ever been shy!

Well look who it is..MC Grace...its been quite awhile. I've been back for about a few weeks now
. I am full of suprises aren't i?
Since when did Carolyn make relaxation cds? I didn't know that.
I also wanted to comment on the Journal thing and i had forgotten to before. Its always good to go back after 1 week and make a summary of that week...really helps to see the progress and where you get stuck
Or those themes that MC Grace mentioned.
