Just wondering what everyone takes and if you have seen a difference.
I am on 10mg of Lexapro and it is working wonderfully for me. I also take 3 fish oil capsules throughout the day, a One A Day Womens mulitvitamin, and I am considering taking B complex, anyone know if it is safe to take along with the mulitvitamin??
So what do you take?
What vitamins do you take??

I take quit a bit of supplementation being I've been into natural healing for 25 years. I choose to not do the pharmaceutical route. It helps to keep my alkalinity up by eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies...especially leafy green salads. I also take a green drink that formulated for building alkalinity. Regular herbals that take the edge off considerably for me are : Valerian Root, Nutri-Calm, Kava Kava and several of the bach flower remedies are always in my purse. Especially Distress Homeopathic. I also sometimes take a supplement called Adaptamax being it has adaptogen herbs in it...that assist the body in...obviously...adapting. LOL Hope I've helped.

I've read that fish oil, calcium, and magnesium are good for the nervous system so I take extra of those and a women's multi. As far as the B's, I know you need to be careful with the fat soluable vits because they can build up, but the non fat soluables just get pee'd out. I also used to take 10mg Lexapro and overall, had a good experience on it. Good luck
I'm also trying to slowly taper off my meds with the use of vitamin supplements. Here's what I'm currently taking for Rx:
*.5mg zoloft (dropping to .25 mgs. Tues.)
*3/4 mg. klono. 2x daily
*40 mg. Nexium 2x daily
*Orthotri. (birth control pills)
This is what I've started for vitamins/supplements and have talked to my pharmacist to ensure there is no harmful effects:
*daily mulit-vitamin
*daily B-complex (I didn't know how essential the B's were to the nervous system until recently. My mom actually just told me that one of our relatives combats her mild seasonal depression with bi-monthly vitamin B shots!)
*1 daily capsule Florajen3 (probiotic to aid digestion and rebalance the "good" bacteria in stomach)
*2 tbs. aloe vera juice 3x daily (helps to soothe and heal esophogas and stomach lining from acid reflux)
*Mug of NaturalCalm at bedtime (has calcium and magnesium) to help become sleepy
*Passionflower capsules (as needed) to help with additional anxiety/aggitation. My goal is to eventually use this in place of klono.
A while back I bought a supplemental program to help taper off zoloft/ativan (now taking klono) but was unable to continue due to reflux. I'm hoping to start that soon, too. The program I bought was through Global DNA which has since been bought out by theroadback.org.
MichiganMom-I'm really curious about the Bach remedies and the green drink to balance alkaline. I'd love to hear more from you- and ANYONE else out there who is using vitamin/supplements/alternative remedies. I'd also appreciate warnings or negative experiences, though I know this freaks some people out... if anyone would like to pm, that would be great!
Hope this was helpful to someone and much thanks in advance!

oh, I also started seeing an acupressurist- the results have been miraculous! Feels GREAT to be somewhat healthy again.

Thanks for all your input. From what I have read B complex vitamins are water solable so they can be taken with a mutli vit. I dont plan on weaning off of the Lex yet, as it has only been 8 weeks and it has help tremedously with my severe pms when herbal/vit. supplement didnt. But eventually I will and would like to get these good vitamins started in my system now.
Fischee,
you said you were unable to take ativan due to your acid reflux?? also, how do you like the klonopin in comparison to ativan? i have a b-12 vitamin and have pre natal pills but afraid to take these together. i also bought fish oil capsules yet scared to take them as well. ALSO, i used to take ortho tri cyclin lo and stopped it because i heard it can make you anxiety/depression worse. . . though when i stopped taking it i feel like i got way worse. dont know if its cause i stopped it or if its something else. just having real bad anxiety now. . especially before my period. probably when I'm ovulating too. . sorry if too much info. . . But just having a hard time on deciding what supplements to take

Hi Holly,
Opps, I guess my brain was working faster than my fingers. I stopped the full supplemental program i mentioned due to the reflux. I had to stop taking ativan because after 4 years my body had become habituated to a very high dosage and I still had pretty intense anxiety.
I had a difficult time adjusting to the klono.- pretty bad headaches for the first 3 weeks. This isn't a bad thing though, because now if I'm having a panic attack I fight through it instead of popping a pill (I'd rather have a little anxiety than a throbbing headache that makes me completly unable to think). Now, I'd never go back to ativan. As someone else mentioned, klono. stays in the body longer and therefore helps to keep my anxiety fairly stablized.
My best advice is to introduce new vitamins/supplements gradually (similar to a taper schedule). That way if you have an adverse reaction, you'll know immediately what's causing it and can quit taking it. Do you have a pharmacy you use regularly? One of the best things I've EVER done is confide in my pharmacist (heck, she already knew my problems since she was filling my meds!). She's been AWESOME in informing me of any interactions- far better than my general MD or even psych. who both tend to treat meds like a craps game!
I think starting with the pre-natals would be good, but i don't know the diff. between a pre-natal and a multi-vitamin (no kids and never been preg.). I think pre-natals have a higher dosage of folic acid?
I've been on ortho for years (decades? hence, no children!) now, so I don't know how my anxiety would be w/out it. I guess i began taking it years before I even experienced anxiety... but everyone is different. Certainly something to ask your dr (or pharmacist
) about.
pm me if you have any other questions.
