I have tried a couple of different meds. for my anxiety and they had horrible side effects. I felt worse on the meds. then I do off. Is anyone else doing this without medication? I would love to be able to take something and it make me feel better but it seems that the meds. just make me more anxious. If someone is on something that works well please let me know. Thanks for you help.

I know how you feel! My doctor gave me effexor which landed me in the ER.. (not to scare anybody) everybody reacts to meds differently I didn't want to take them at all but in the end my doc prescribed me Paxil which I had nausea for the first couple of days that was it.. I've been on it now for a month the only thing I feel is I am more tired but I think this is the meds way of saying slow down, I also have been off of work for a month I don't have the busy lifestyle I had...It took me two weeks to take the courage to that the paxil because effexor and xanax sent me over the edge but I finally accepted I needed help and it was only short term and when I took a pill I told myself this is not doing to hurt you it will help I used a lot of positive thinking while taking the pill.. having a positive outlook really did help.. Good luck with finding what works for you :)

No I am not on any meds/ Nothing agrees with me. Doctor jujst prescribed something to help me sleep. I took it once. Took it 2 hrs before I went to bed. By the time I went to bed I was getting so soreand I was beggining to hurt. The next day I was sore sore all day. It felt like I was having an attack at times/

It seems anymore no matter what type of medicine I am on I have a rough time. I know it takes time for the body to adjust but in the meantime it is rough.

My son was surprised to hear I was having sucha reaction. He is familiar with what I am taking. When I have a rough day I have troubel with my hears hurting. Had a CT scan done on the sinus cavity do not know the resuluts yet. I don't know if I want to try any more of that medicine or not. It makes it rough to get throughthe day when ou are in rough shape,

I think the best thing is just to take benzos (Klonapin, Xanax, Adavan...etc) but only when you really need them, like during a panic attack. They do have ahigh potential for abuse (or so they warn) but I have never had a problem abusing them, they are very helpful when in crisis. All of those other meds SSRI's and such, I don't think I'd mess with those, it's not an exact science or even anywhere near it! I've gone that route before and you become like a lab rat and there are SO many side affects! You MAY finally find something that works for you, but it's a LONG shot in the dark if you ask me!

I am trying to do this without meds. when this started happening they gave me xanax and zoloft, and i took them both about twice and they just made me more nervous, and gave me panic attacks so i stopped taking them. Im still having such a hard time, But i really wanted just to do it by myself, cause I know it's possible. Good luck with whatever you choose though :)

I have tried several medications, and I have had nasty reactions to all. The best thing that works for me is to walk in the mornings... I walk about 2 miles, rain or shine. I'm in
Seattle so the worst that I get is rain. A long HOT bath before bed also works. No or little caffine or sugar works great. I really thought that meds would be the answer, but not for me. Not saying that the meds don't work for others, but not for me. Try to think positive thoughts only and KNOW in your heart that you will get through this.

It's not as easy as this sounds, but if you
really make an effort, with or without meds,
this program WILL work for you.

Best of luck

I went through the whole program without meds. You can get through anxiety without them. Depression is another story, though. people with depression may NEED to take meds. Anyway, you can't take anxiety meds forever, you'll have to get off of them one day.

I think that people on anxiety and depression drugs stay anxious longer. A lot of people may disagree with me but I think that because the side effects of anti-anxiety and anti-depression drugs are anxiety symptoms. People tend to stay on them longer and think that their anxiety is still bad because they are having those anxious feelings, when in reality they are feeling the side effects of the drugs. They are not aware that their anxiety has gotten better, but the drugs side effects are what's causing the bad feelings that they feel.

Anxiety and depression med side effects tend to be what? Nervousness, heartpalpataions, dizziness, sleeplessness, etc... Need I say more?

Take care everyone.
