First day on new med and trying to calm down
Oh really it was different taking it during the day? Maybe it is worth another try. I have to build up the courage though. Maybe on a Saturday when I don't have to go to work. . .hmmm.
I'm trying to trust God here, but now suddenly I'm confused as to what it is He's wanting me to do. I prayed about this and felt good about taking it, but not sleeping and having a rough day today was no fun. Maybe if I take it with Xanax that will help.

Hey Faith! It's so good to see you back here. I'm sorry you are having trouble with your medication. I know that when I was trying out meds it took a couple of weeks to feel right again. If it's something you feel you need to do, try to push through the two weeks and be as patient as you can. I'm here for you if you need anything.
Thanks. I may just try to wait and see and try a Xanax once in awhile. The other thing I considered was trying Zoloft. I've tried that once before but stopped after a week because it made me tired. But. . . I could handle that. It's just the Lexapro made me jittery.

Do not be afraid to take meds! If you had diabetes you'd take insulin, right? I do everything right-no alcohol, coffee, eat well, exercise, the program, therapy but.... I needed more. I was still struggling and crippled w/ anxiety. I take 20 mg of Lexapro and it helped initailly but am now going to be taking celexa to help my serotoin levels as well as my norepernephrine levels. I also take .25mg of xanex 2-3 times a day. i know I won't be on meds forever but if I am- who cares? If you need them to help you live a productive healthy life than it's worth it! Stop being so hard on yourself, and stay in close contact w/ ur doc. If you need anything let me know. God bless! -Roc26
Give yourself a break! I am sure that you are just stressing about the new pill you are taking. Pills like that take some time to really get in to your system to start working. maybe your body was just adjusting? Give it a few more days and see how it goes! Don't be so hard on your self... I know how you feel though, taking medication is like taboo... I am on th fence now about going back on Zoloft and am trying my hardest to not b/c I don't want to take medication.... Just continue to take it for a full week and then if you feel wosre & still are having touble sleeping then talk to your doctor!
Thanks guys. I may try something else like Zoloft. I tried that a year ago and stopped after a few days because it made me tired. I think I could tolerate that better... but the way the Lexapro made me feel, I don't think it was for me.
And, the thing is, I don't think meds are taboo, I just have a sensative system. And, the truth is that not everyone with this problem HAS to take meds. Some are able to make other adjustments to get over it. I hear the comparison to diabetes and I agree that if you NEED it, that you should take it. But I'm not sure that's me yet. I am still hoping to use other skills so that I'm not too sick to work.

I have been on lexapro and klonopin for almost 3 weeks now. The first week was a killer for me. I was exhausted and at times it made me a little jittery (the first weekend anyway). I am finding now that it is making me a lot calmer. I take the klonopin when needed - usually 1/2 tablet in the morning and if I need another 1/2 I will take it in the afternoon. This seems to be working for me so far.
I would check with your Dr. and find something that works well for you.
Good luck with the medication.

I can say the Lexapro takes about 2 - 4 weeks to truly work. I cannot speak of other medications but my doctor said this. I have a very sensitive system to medication so believe me I know how you feel!!
Dont put too much pressure on yourself and remember that a doctor would not prescribe you a medication that can hurt you. You will not die or lose control from this medicine. BUT with that being said, there are many types of medications out there for that sole reason, everyone's systems are different. I did not react very well to Zoloft but Lexapro has been great so really communicate with your doctor and just try to say positive.
Also, I dont know if you noticed but you said that maybe you would try the medication on Saturday because you would not be at work. DONT TRY TO AVOID SITUATIONS!!! This is something I really struggle with and it really will make it harder in the end. You can do it and we are all on your side.

I know what you mean about avoiding. My thinking is that if I get sick again I can just lay in bed, where if I'm at work I would have to still work.DONT TRY TO AVOID SITUATIONS!!! Faith!
It's so good to see you on here. I just started getting on again about a month ago--and I hadn't seen ya (missed ya).
Anyways, I think that you might just be a little extra angry about meds (and maybe about the side effects and even about having to take them at all). I think you should try to do an excercise or 2 (or 3) that help you to think positively, get calm, and trust yourself.
You said your prayer--now, let go and let God. Easier said than done, I know.
