I would like to know if anyone taking Paxil puts things off, seems to not care/or be able to do things on a timely basis. I've taken Paxil for 14 years. Where I use to do things timely, I always seem to put everything off now.

Artis'
I too take 40mg of paxil, and have done so for 6 years. It has been a blessing for me. My panic went away. I can't say that I have noticed any procrastination but I am less hurried during the day. Good luck

Hi. I have taken Paxil for 10 years. I do notice the tendency to be lazy and put things off. I just try and keep a schedule of when to do things around the house. I am just thankful that it helped with my panic attacks and anxiety.

Artis, I'm so glad that you posted this!!! I never realized it, but now that I've read yours, I do the exact same thing!!! I put things off & put things off, until I can't anymore. It's so weird, because normally I'd get it done & get it out of the way. Now I spend my days just kinda doing as little as possible to get by.

I take 20mg of Paxil and have taken it for about 10 years now. I wish I had taken it sooner. I procrastinate a little but I always have. I find that I'm either completely on and have to be doing something constantly or completely off where I could sit on the couch all morning and watch TV.

I was on paxil for 3 years at 80mg but didn't experience feeling horrible at the start however, it takes about 4 weeks to start working and if you have high anxiety it may take a little longer. Feeling horrible could be just a part of your friends anxiety not necessarily the paxil. Unfortunately, anti-depressants take time to work.

I don't think the med can really do much of anything for at least a week or so if you've never taken it. It's probably psychosomatic. Most people that have problems with the med happen when you try to quit it. I actually would have quit this med ten years ago if I could get off it without going through 'PaxHell.'

Dear pdxryan:
I know what you mean by "PAX HELL". I was on Paxil ( prescibed by my Primary Care Physician) for three years. I do not think that Primary Care Doctors have the knowledge or skills to deal with psychiatric medication presciptions.
I was not monitored while I was on this drug whatsoever by my Primary Care Doctor. After taking the drug for three years I started noticing problems at work, so, stupidly, I took myself off of the drug. Going off of the Paxil, I believe, sent my life into a downward spiral, leading me to way bigger life problems. I thought that I was taking myself off of the drug little by little, but who knows. I looked up some information online about Paxil one day a few years ago and I found a lot of people talking about having a hard time getting off of this drug and some of the people could not even do it because of severe side effects. I am glad that Paxil is helping a lot of people in this discussion, but it just was the most terrible drug I had ever been on. But then it was the first psychiatric drug I had ever taken also. Good Luck to everyone on the program, I am on Session # 4.
