I never seem to be able to get past session 3 before I drift off, I start of with good intentions but gradually it wains, I think alot has to do with that relaxation CD, rather than relax me it annoys me, I know it word for word, I have no problems relaxing anyway, I fall of to sleep at night without any problems, so relaxing is not an issue, I'm a perfectionist, and unless I do what is required to a T i will give up, so say you really couldn't be bothered sitting through that relaxation CD today I just give up as I haven't done exactly what I am supposed to do. I've been trying to get past session 3 for about 3 months now, I'm pi$$ed of with these 3 CD's and the constant restarts, Grrrrr HELP

I am not to fond of Lucinda's relxation tape. I find it difficult to listen to. There maybe some other type of relaxation tape or music that may interest you.

I can relate on the perfectionism aspect. I have struggled with this one myself. I have just completed the program for the third time and each and every time I do it I find it so rewarding.

Keep working on it little by little. This program has transformed my life and is well worth all the hard work.

Let go of the perfectionism and just be ok with "good enough".

I wish you much success in your recovery.
take care and God Bless.

I choose to sit and listen to all cd's then decide which i wanted to go back too - the relaxation cd - i sat and listened to the technical words the music was enough - the technical jargon allowed me to forget to listen and relax

I got adhd really severe I got through session one very sloppy like and only have listened to the relaxtion cd once. However I am payinf for this program and will start over again if I have to what could be the harm I only will retain the information better this time and I guess I should pray before each days lesson just like I would for any Bible study. For without God's help in anything it is futile! So High Ho High ho its off to the start again I go LOL! Le Ann

Dont get discouraged. This has happened to me several times as well. I just get right back up on the horse and keep going. I was so discouraged today and down in the dumps that I could barely get motivated to eat. I put on the relaxation cd and I immediately felt better. Dont give up take your time with it and keep moving forward.

Have you considered just moving on to Session 4? I imagine that because you say you're a perfectionist you feel like you need to master the first three sessions before moving on. But it's really not the case. You've clearly been through the first three sessions enough times to know the general gist of the topics. You can always come back to these sessions later - the CD's won't be going anywhere!

I tend to be a black and white (AKA all or nothing) thinker. So I can appreciate your feelings that if you didn't get it right the first time, you better go back to the beginning and start again. But real life doesn't work that way. If you keep that mindset, it's going to be nearly impossible to get off the first step since we're human and are bound to make mistakes. Give yourself some wiggle room to stray from the path. Our recoveries are not simple and don't follow a set of convenient rules. If you need to do things a little differently than the "guidebook", then so be it. All the information in this program is useful and doesn't necessarily need to be done in the order presented.
