Hi all, I am back here after 3 years of doing really well. (I took Lexapro last time and it helped and then got off it). Now after years of struggling with a personal issue, I started getting muscle spasms in my neck which turned into arm and leg numbness upon laying down. It woke me up last night and was up all night b/c it freaks me out. I keep thinking I have something else wrong with me and it cant be anxiety.

Did anyone else ever get the arm and leg numbness? It would help so much if I knew it was just from anxiety and then I wouldnt be so afraid of it when it comes. BTW- I still keep anyone suffering from anxiety depression in my prayers after being on here from years ago. Thanks so much, Maria

I do when I have a panic attack...but I don't think that's what you're talking about. I wanted to reply to you because my dad also suffers from anxiety and he has numbness. He says that his fingers will be numb for weeks at a time. Doctors don't know why this happens to him, but I was letting you know that it actually could be your anxiety causing it. Good luck!!

Hi Maria

I too have the arm and leg numbness. Mine is commonly due to very tight muscles and muscle spasms. Alot of times, mine will be one-sided i.e. my whole right or left side. Yup, still scares the heck out of me...but all anxiety!

i actually had my husband drive me to the hospital about a month ago. i was so worried that the arm numbness had something to do with a heart attack. it turned out its actually been muscle tension. the arm numbness is gone but now i have such pain in my neck, shoulders and back. this really stinks! my hope is that since the arm tingling/numbness went away after a couple of weeks that this will too. feel better soon!

Yes I do. I did not realize until recently it was related to anxiety. I can relate to how you feel.

ME too,
Neck ache, tongue numbness, arms, fingers, toes, all differents times, sometimes a few minutes, sometimes all day, off and on, I think it's delayed from a VERY stressful summer, lack of exercise, negative thoughts, which bytheway, is HUGE! when i'm positive, and rebuke my negative thought in it's track and replace it with a positive, then those are my best days. But it's scary till you realize that stress severly alters your body symptoms and can cause all kinds of weird symptoms. Crazy stuff that stress. Relaxing, and sleep are huge. speaking of I should go to bed. Peace and prayers

Hey Maria,
I get leg and arm numbness, body pains, headaches, nausea, upset stomach, heart palpitations, racing thoughts, or opposite difficulty getting started on things and finishing them, and foggy spacey thinking. I get these at varying times any given day. I have come to accept they correlate with my anxiety and panic attacks and my depression.
However if you are concerned about your own symptoms you should talk to a doctor.

My arm gets numb when I am having a panic attack. I have had the ambulance come by at least 3 times when having these because yes they woke me up and scared me to death about if this was "THE ONE".

Its the anxiety and if you have been throught he program and have succeeded I think you know what to do next. ;)
