Hi Jeannie.
How did your driving scare start?

I had been afraid to drive since a few months ago. It all started because I had my WORST panic attack while driving to a doctor's appointment. I am now on session 4 of the program and can now drive to my college classes, half hour drive away from where I live. The only way to get rid of the fear of driving is to go out driving little by little going more distance to break your fear. That is how I did it. I hope it helps.

My first panic was in the car about 16 years ago I was able to work through it back then on my own, but now I'm having mild panic at every stop light, every time some jurk wont let me merge onto the highway that I have to take about 4 days a week. I get such an adrenalin rush I feel it start at my core and sweep over me like a wave. I stat to shake and feel sick to my stomach. My other poblems is I have my two children with me most of the time and I do not want them to learn my fear. I hate this. I have not been able to work through this, it has been 4 mounths now.

I understand all this as I too don't drive. I am hoping this is something I can work on after I complete the program. Good luck to everyone. Hang in there and just keep trying and get through it.

I can drive in the city but I have had trouble driving on the freeways for the past several months. I get really scared of the physical sensations I am having but it eventually passes. I have to keep doing it though because of my job and I don't want to make my world smaller. Hang in there.

In the program she says to find what it is you fear. I fear getting in a crash and dying and taking my children with me.No one can tell me that my fear is not real because it is real you can be killed out there on the roads today with so many people that drink and drive, or drugs then drive or angry people that carry guns, or just someone who wont give you a little room to get on the highway and crashes into you. No one can tell me that I'm not going to die, because some day I will, and I wont know when, or how but I will. Trying to get my brain to come to terms with death is my main fear that causes all of my panic. Hard to fix this fear with feel the fear and do it anyway.
