I have a problem with following through with ideas, such as applying for new a job or making other positive changes to my life. I always have a glimmer of motivation, but that quickly goes away because I start thinking it wont work...

sometimes if things are written down-a checklist, a schedule-it almost makes it easier to do. not even a 2-6 months things that need to be done, oh no,that would be too easy to work it's way closer and closer to the garbage can...but very literally a sched. for TOMORROW. even approximate times on it so you break it down into diff. steps through the day(that way when you look at it in the morning you're not over-whelmed!) i don't know, try it this evening for tomorrow and ,hey, if it doesn't work the most you've wasted is 10min & a piece of paper that you could very easily turn over and make a grocery list on!! hope this helps! :)

Hi I do know what you mean. For me it is because I am always "waiting" for the right time to do a certain thing. I have learned that waiting is often not the best thing for me. Right now works pretty well for most small things. Making a list is also a good idea. There is a major athletic company that suggests that we just DO it and they might have a good point! For the bigger things in life, I have to break it down into small manageable steps or else I get overwhelmed or I scare myself out of any progress. I also have days when the fatigue of depression can keep me down and I don't get any thing done. We all need our down days but then we get back up and take tiny steps forward.
I am the worst type of perfectionist. I don't even get started because I know the end result won't be good enough. It took me YEARS to figure that one out. Now I can say that finnished is better than perfect on a lot of things. And I shoot for progress not perfection. Be kind to yourself at all times and try to do one thing today that you may not really want to and you will get what you need. Best of luck to you. You are not alone!
