My doctor wants to switch my meds from Celexa to Effexor. Celexa works pretty well as far as decreasing my anxiety but it makes me tired and completely zaps my libido.

I've never been on anything but Celexa and I'm afraid the Effexor won't work.

Has anyone switched from Celexa to Effexor?

I switched from Celexa to Paxil...sorry to say I have had the same experience in regard to the sexual side effects on both drugs.

I just started taking Celexa about 2 weeks ago, and it is working for the anxiety but I also have to libido. I really love my boyfriend and want to be with him, so I try really hard to get into the mood and that works pretty well. If there is a will there is a way, you just have to be open to all possibilities!

I have been on Celexa for a few months now and it seems to be working for me. I don't have a significant other in my life, so I don't know about the libidio side effects. But I am wondering if the Celexa miight be causing my weight gain? Anyone else have weight gain from Celexa?

I've been on celexa for years now. My doc suggested trying effexor once, but then knowing I have high blood pressure, we ruled it out. Celexa works well, it does have major libido side effects though, but I also experienced paxil, and it was horrible, plus major weight gain. I find less weight gain with celexa.

i have a friend who took effexor and loved it but after a year she was a cold, different person and gained 40 lbs. She never had to worry about her weight ever! She has been trying to wean off the effexor and its almost impossible, brain zaps, stomach issues, etc.
There is a class action suit against effexor. I have heard people go thru hell for 1 to 1.5 yrs trying to get off and most never can gett of cuz the side effects are withdrawals are so bad.
not so scare you.. but if celexa is working ok i would not touch the effexor.

I am on effexor and it is very strong. you wont have any enxiety problems thats for sure but the sex drive just like all the other meds well you wont have one lol. After reading one of the comments about there being a problem with people comming off effexor i have to say im quite nervous now cause I just trie to come off and i couldnt do it. for about a week off of it i was fine then i had horrible panic attacks and couldnt stop crying. I have heard its good to switch back to something else like prozac first and then try to come off that

My doctor put me on effexor after trying other meds. Then I looked up effexor on the web and came across so many websites with so many terrible stories about the withdrawal symptoms. I decided to get off of it. My doctor wasn't happy but gave me a two week pack to taper off. I've been off now for four days and am having a hard time. I'm extremely tired, having bad headaches, dizziness, and muscle twitches. I read that it takes a lot more than two weeks to taper off, but I'm trying hard not to go back on it.
