I was wondering if those that have or are taking Lexapro what kind of side effects did you have when your dose was increased.

My Dr. started me on 5 mg and she increased me to 10 mg on Friday. I started the 10 mg on Friday night and I am feeling horrible. Not as bad as when I first started the Lexapro, that was a killer the first couple of days. It is better but I was just wondering what other people felt.

I feel a bit nauseaus and have a headache that doesn't seem to go away. Then again, my sinuses have been bothering me so that headache can just be from that and the increase in dosage is just making it worse. I am also a little more anxious, but I think it is just the increase in dosage. My body is a little achy too.

The Dr. said I would have some side effects and it would go away but it is horrible but of course not as bad as when I first started.

I also started lexepro 3 weeks ago, for the first weel my dr. had me take half of the pill 5mg, and then starting the 2nd week , i went up to 10mg,(3rd week is wed), so far other than a dry mout, that's my only problem. If you are anxious that can be causing you to have those symptoms. My dr. told me to give it about 4 errks side effects should go away. Hope this helps

Hi - maybe 3 or so years ago I was on lexapro for almost a year. It was the first time on any anti-dpressant, etc. And it was really wonderful! It gave me an idea of what a "normal" life looks like. I adapted to it well and most often took 10mg. My doc is very open with me about these meds, so I got a lot of insight - here's some of the high points: when you find the one that works for you, you'll know it. Often times it takes multiple tries with multiple different prescriptions until you get the right one. for me, lexapro was great, but after about a year, i began to experience weight gain and the drug had less effectiveness. So with doc's supervision I went off. He also introduced me to cogniative therapy and I used it "on my own". After just cracking open the box on this program, I can see its going to be effective. so, in summary, give the lexapro a chance, if it doesn't work, don't hesitate to go back to the doc and try something else. if that doesnt work, try again. keep with the program in all of this - i think the cognative piece will help. good luck!

I think part of it is that I am leaving my current job and starting a new one in a week and a half. I do not like my current job and can't wait to get out of here. Although I know it is coming to an end, I don't want to be here. I need to talk myself through this and know it is only for 4 1/2 more days.

I think the medication is working but my body is still fighting with me a bit. I did experience some nausea - which is not uncommon for me regardless of what I take. It all irritates my stomach until my body gets used to it.

I did the program once a long time ago and I am starting it over again. Hopefully with the meds and the program I will be better.
