I'm currently going on my second time with the program and today I went to see a psychiatrist who prescribed Cymbalta. What are your experiences with this anti-depressent? I'm very nervous about taking medication.

I have been on Cymbalta for about a year now. It's the best anti-depressant that I have ever been on, and I've tried almost ALL of them. I've had no side-effects at all. Other than being terribly expensive since I currently don't have insurance, it's worked wonders for me.

Laura,

What dosage are you on? My doc wants me to start Cymbalta but I'm nervous about it. All I have had so far are tranquilizers.

Thanks!

Duder142,
I am on cymbalta too and have been for about a year and a half. I am on 60 mg's and I have had no side effects at all. I was bumped up frm 30 but aside from that it worked after about 3 weeks. It was gradual, but just keep in contact with your psychiatrist about your progress and I'm sure you will be fine. Remember though that side effects like suicidal thoughts are not normal and you should tell your doctor if it happens.

Sandina:

I started on 30 mg. and my doc upped it to 60 mg. I have never had an anti-depressant work so well for me. I used to eat xanax like candy but after starting Cymbalta, I only need one or two klonopin per day! Hope this helps you out.

Hi..

My sister has MS and some mild depression (that she didn't realize she had til she spoke to her doc) and her doctor is having her take Cymbalta. She says it works great!

She told me she didn't want to be a guinia pig and have to try a bunch of different meds, so she researched with her doc and decided on that one. I believe she takes 60 mg a day. She says she hasn't experiences any negative side effects, and it lifts her mood and helps the aches and pains associated with the MS as well.

She's been thankful for it.

Just my 2 cents... :)

i'm the third person on this thread cymbalta worked for. i tried so many (starting with sinequan, elavil and imipramine) that just did nothing that i really wasn't expecting anything and i was pleasantly surprised. it didn't make me gain weight, sleep too much or too little, or anything at all. the only thing my doctor was hoping for that it didn't do was help my nerve pain, and it didn't. well, it did at about 120 mg. but then i couldn't exactly function very well. 40 mg. a day was perfect for me. prozac worked on the nerve pain almost immediately (the second day) but mentally it wasn't good. too bad, too. there's just no simple answer for everything. but i'm giving the thumbs up to cymbalta.
