My Doc put me on celexa for anxiety. The first few days were not bad but when my doc asked me how I was doing I told her that I had an upset stomack, shakey and had a hard time sleeping. She instanly took me off the med and wants me to try something else. Im confused I thought this was a normal reaction and I had to push through to get the results that the med offers. How many of you had a few weeks of misery before they felt better?

From what you said, I would surmize that your Dr. decided to take you off Celexa because they didn't like the reactions you were having to it. Did you question your Dr. as to why?

she said that I shouldn't have a side effect that would disrupt my day, so she wants to try something else. I talked to a few other people that are on meds and they said that the first 2 weeks are not fun at all. Altho some peiple have no reaction. I am super sensitive to meds, it took a long time before I would try this med. I am upset that I had these side effects because I really wanted it to work. I hate taking meds, they scare me.

The first few weeks that I was on med was bad, but I think that most of it was me. I was scared to death of taking med. so I made myself so sick. I think that you are going to feel somethings but we tend to exaggerate what we are feeling because of the fear of the med. After a few weeks things leveled off and my body got use to it and it was fine.

The first 5 weeks of taking Effexor were horrible to say the least! My anxiety symptoms were mild compared to how I felt taking the Effexor. My Dr gave me Xanax to help with the "break through" anxiety until my body adjusted to it. Years ago I took Effexor and had mild side effects. This time was much different. Now I feel anxiety free which is kind of a bittersweet pill for me to swallow. I wonder if this really is a chemical imbalance and not situational. Dr's have so many varying opinions.

I am taking CYMBALTA for problems with anxiety and have found that I have NO side effects with this med....it is a wonder drug for me...I would certainly recommend that you give it a try. I wonder if any of you men have had any sexual dysfunction problems due to ANY medication that you have taken for anxiety.
