Hi all,
I am on my 11th day of Zoloft. 1st week of 25mg and now 50mg. My sleeping has been difficult in the past but since taking Zoloft it is really bad. I constantly wake up and can't not get continuous sleep.
Also, I have loss of appetite and have lost close to 4-5 lbs in the last 10 days. Is this something that happens in the beginning?
Will all of these side effects go aways once the meds kick in 2-3 weeks? My anxiety is still bad and I can't sleep. The sleep deprivation is making everything worse, which in turn makes me take more zanax to compensate for it. It is a vicious circle.
I am going to my doctor for sleeping medicine today. I need to get some sleep.
Has anyone else experience something similar? I don't know if I am having a reaction to Zoloft or if it hasn't started working yet.
Please help

I have been on zoloft for at least 6 mos. or more. I have no appetite and have lost quite a bit of weight, nor do I sleep well. I hope to be going off it soon. Not everyones reaction to meds. is the same.

I am on around day 11 or 12 as well. I started off really slowly to avoid side effects. I am also have soem trouble sleeping and head aches here and there but nothing too bad. I figure it's just part of adjusting to the meds. I want to feel better so I am going to stick with it. All of the literature says that these side effects go away once everything has settled and your body adjusts. It's worth a bit of discomfort to get my life back. I pretty much have side effects with every medicine I take even antibiotics so I'll just keep pressing on I guess. I also do not have much of an appetite sometimes.
Betchu keep me posted, maybe we can go through this together.

Hi Melissa,
I am now on day 17 with 50mg for 10 days. I am still unable to sleep. Even with Lunesta 2mg for the last 4 days... it's still a stuggle to sleep continuously. I am so tired and exhausted not to mention I have to deal with elevated anxiety due to sleep deprevation. To combat this, I've been taking .5 mg xanax 2 times a day to calm me down. I think if I were to sleep well the side effects and the anxiety would be managable but with lack of sleep I am climbing the walls.
I really hope this will only go on for just a little longer. i know it takes time but I truly hope this is just side effects not my reaction to Zoloft. BTW, I switched from generic to brand... It was so expensive and my insurance would not cover it.

I have been taking generic zoloft for 2 months. The two weeks were horrible, diarrhea, weight loss, no appetite, shakey feeling. I tried to increase my dose from 25 to 50 and had the same side effects so I stayed on 25. Now my only complaint is a very spacey feeling throughout the day. I think it helped a little with my anxiety and scary thoughts but not 100%. I am still using CBT and self-education to understand and overcome this. Good luck.

Hi Guys,
Well I woke up just about every hour last night. Oh the joys of anxiety. I feel very spacey and shakey to day. I'll be so glad when this stuff starts working and I can get some relief! I am on the generic brand as well.

Hi Melissa,
I just begin the program today. I have had very little experience with depression meds. I believe sometime ago I attempted to take Zoflot and a combination of something else I cannot recall. I felt like I was losing gravity and decided not to take it, and because of the other med, my hair begin to fall out. You are so right though, I did experience a great decrease in appetite. I am looking forward to improvements as I continue this program.

Hello every one . Well I have been on zoloft for almost a year. I take 300mg yes thats right 300mg. It didn't kick in until 2 months were I was anxiety panic attack free. My Doc keeps uping the dose. As far as weight you all are lucky I have gained 30 pounds on this stuff. I was on lexapro for about 4 years and I loved it no weight gain. 11 years ago I was thin then I had to start taking meds for agrophobia would not go out of the house. Then took paxil gain 60 pounds. So everyone just to let you know I wished I had lost weight the medicine does work but you have to give it time to kick in . Sorry so long but that is my story of taking these wonderful meds just kidding about that.Take care to all

Hi all,
I am now on day 27 on Zoloft 50mg and still can't sleep. I am unable to eat as there is absolutely no appetite. I feel hungry but the sight and the thought of eating stops me from eating. I've lost 10 lbs in the last 27 days.
When will this stop? Meanwhile, I am still taking xanax .5 mg 2 times a day and lunesta 3mg at night. Lunesta even at 3mg does not work. I still wake up every 2-3 hours. I wish I could just sleep and eat. If I were able to sleep and eat I think I would feel less anxiety and take less xanax, if at all.
Those with similar experiences... will you share?
Thanks

I have been on Zoloft 50mg for 6 or more mos. I have lost 11 lbs, I was already slim so can't afford to lose more. My appetite is simply terrible, suddenly I will get to a point where my body says "I've got to have food." Then I can eat a little something but lose interest fast. I too am sleep deprived, tired every day...I am soon to go back to Pamelor which many years ago helped a good deal till insurance would no longer pay for brand name. This has been the ONLY anti dep. that helped. I am going to use the brand name drug thanks to Canada.
