Maybe they need to start with a real low dose of generic prozac or paxill. Definitely call your doc. :D

I am very sensitive to meds but I am sure there will be one for you. Just go very slowly because SSRI's like zoloft (which I take) and paxil, prozac, etc. can increase your anxiety at first. Ten years ago, when I told my primary doc that I was having trouble visiting with my friends and riding in cars with others because of my IBS, she gave me Paxil. She didn't tell me that some people can have more anxiety while they are getting used to it. I had major panic attacks and it put me into a very difficult tale spin. I really thought I was losing my mind and I had two young children to take care of. Then I wished I had never taken the medicine. Once I knew that the medicine could do this, I tried zoloft but with the care of a specialist, (a psychiatrist) who knew my sensitivity to the Paxil. She started me very gradually. There was heightened anxiety which I thought how am I supposed to bear this, but whenever it happened, I learned to tell myself -- it's fine, I'll float through it, it is just the medicine. I am going to bear the discomfort so that I can get used to the meds and see if they can help me. I was able to do that and now have been taking it successfully. Be patient but educated and do not let anyone tell you to take something faster than you are comfortable with. Good luck!

dear Brick:
Be careful with the paxil. I was on paxil for three years and then I took
myself off of the medication because I felt the medicine was negatively affecting my job.
I thought I was taking myself off of the paxil gradually, but maybe not slowly enough.
( And I did not do this with my doctors assistance, which was stupid).
Later on my life went into a downward spiral. I probably cannot solely blame the
paxil withdrawals for all of my problems at the time, but I am sure that going off of the
paxil exacerbated my condition. Do not take paxil no matter what they say. You will
never be able to get off of it easily. I have gone online to read some about it and
people have all said the same thing, they tried for years to get off of the paxil
and had no luck. I am taking some other meds at this time that have been working
out for me the past five years, although I would like to see my life drug free in the
near future.
