I just started Cymbalta yesterday. Cymbalta is a fairly new antidepressant, similar to Prozac and Paxil, etc, in that it should take several weeks before it takes effect. Not sure if this was normal, but after taking only one pill, I felt a strong sedative effect and slept very well. Has anyone else taken Cymbalta and had a similar experience? Maybe it was other factors that caused these feelings.

I have taken Cymbalta for about six months. It made me feel more anxious to begin with, but I feel much better on it now. I was finally able to quit taking klonopin all together for anxiety. I don't remember it making me drowsy. I did sleep better over time though.

Hello, I have taken Cymbalta for about 91/2 months after switching from another anti-depressant because of side effects. For me, it turns out that the side effects of this one aren't much better. At first, about a month into it, I almost fell asleep at the wheel while driving and this was after getting a good nights sleep. It made me very drowsy, I am having night sweats (just like the other meds), and the constipation is no fun either. I feel like there is a lot of pressure in my head and like it's very hard to concentrate because I feel like it has slowed down my thought process quite a bit. I was on 60mg, but now have reduced it to 30 in anticipation of going off of it all together. Good luck.
