Hey folks, hope all is well. So I am in week 6 of the program and feeling great. I am seeing the world differently and won a big battle that I mentioned earlier in the forum. Even with the win I still felt the rush of the anxiety. I calmed myself through it but would love going back to the good 'ole days of not feeling a thing before public speaking. From day 1 I said no medicine. I do not know much about the prescriptions but did not want to have what I call a mind altering drug as part of my daily routine. I only have these rushes 2 or 3 times a week and they are brief. I figured I could live through it.

However, I spoke with a friend who is a local doc. In the process I was told that taking buspar could take some of the edge off the attacks if they do happen. I likened it to someone taking something to calm the stomach before taking an airplace flight. I did get the prescription but figured I would only take one before a speaking engagement or doing something that creates anxiety if I feel it coming on.

Can anyone give me information? Should I bother taking them? After beating anxiety the other night should I just stick to what I am doing?

;)Am not familiar with this drug but I do think they or natural remedies have their place in times of extreme stress. I like valerian or theanine. I have even tried benedryl. It calms me down. After you learn more skills you may not need meds. However no one should ever feel bad about needing meds. They have saved many people from going over the edge. God bless you and I hope you are doing well.

I have taken this drug for quite a long time. It has been around forever and is very safe. It does take the edge off if I have a sudden panic attack. I would recommend it.

Thanks for the information! To this point I have only used 2 pills. Still trying to work this out through CBT alone but I have to accept that I have a stressful line of work. Of course I wanted to have as much information as possible.
